sourcecodeplz··on AI for developers and Google Workspace
Not exactly. These are your feelings because you know of A.I. and would rather not receive a canned message BUT not all people are the same. There are many who would appreciate that email and welcome it. Ignorance is not bliss.
sourcecodeplz··on Mediterranean diet may lower dementia risk by a quarter, study suggests
Then you also have the salty water and air PLUS no need to exercise too much because you can always take a quick swim.

I would also add garlic to your grandfathers' list.

sourcecodeplz··on Mediterranean diet may lower dementia risk by a quarter, study suggests
Omg fresh olive oil, cheeses, tomatoes, salads and other legumes + some fish or chicken.

Yes, I do like some pork grease or beef but that's if I'm planning on drinking some heavy liquors.

sourcecodeplz··on Ring LLC home security company ransomed by ALPHV ransomware
This should be interesting. Also, thanks for not making me visit twitter.

Edit: because twitter doesn't load on this particular device I use for HN. Basically the browser is too old. There is no "hate" ... ffs

sourcecodeplz··on US court rules Uber and Lyft workers are contractors
In Europe, you can't drive for Uber or deliver food without a standard work contract which includes: healthcare, pension, payroll and income taxes.

Drivers here PAY private companies a weekly amount in order to work for Uber et all (to have that contract). Uber et all work with these companies only, not individuals.

sourcecodeplz··on Facebook confirms it will drop news sharing in Canada under bill C-18
They also blocked NGOs and some gov agencies people were relying on to get critical alerts.

It was a super shady move and some think it was intentional.

sourcecodeplz··on Facebook confirms it will drop news sharing in Canada under bill C-18
But it did have a major impact on the traffic of those sites.
sourcecodeplz··on Facebook confirms it will drop news sharing in Canada under bill C-18
Yes, exactly my first thought. Too many people get their news from FB headlines.

There was a user here who said something about people reading an obviously unresearched news article in a newspaper, knowing it is saying bullcrap BUT kept reading other pieces from that paper. Because one bad article doesn't make the whole newspaper worthless.

Find yourself a couple of newspapers and read them. Scan the front page. Get a wholer picture of the news. It's sad really printed newspapers have vanished so extensively.

Meanwhile on FB, people read a headline and that's it.

sourcecodeplz··on Singapore software vendor says own hardware in colo costs $400M less than cloud
Colo is most performance per buck. Cloud is least performance per buck but no headaches.

There is also the option of managed metal. You get raid, monitoring and super performance.

I used to think VPS was the middle ground but now I like managed metal best.

sourcecodeplz··on Our production servers were suspended by Google Cloud
You invest in 1-2 UPSes and a 4/5G mobile modem data plan that kicks in when needed. If you really want to be sure, get a diesel generator also. Will take some time to setup but it is worth it.

- No one can see your code

- No one can shut you down

Usually I don't care much for grammatical errors, as long as the point gets across clearly. In this case I don't know why it irks me.

sourcecodeplz··on Urgent: Sign the petition now
the forum is up. due to an attack, I had to block US IPs.
sourcecodeplz··on Urgent: Sign the petition now
This community is so respectful, insightful and generous that I almost forgot it had nefarious overlords over regular overlords.

Shame on you. This is a moment to remember.

Let's just bring back ol regular forums with just regular overlords (and pay them and place them on rotation).

It's well into the AM here but tomorrow I will spend a little time installing/building a little forum at this address: Oslo.eu.org

See you there, if you want.

sourcecodeplz··on People with ADHD claim Adderall is ‘different’ now
Thank you for this. I think most people are like this, me included, when we don't have a project that actively interests and excites us.

This whole ADHD thing might be just true bullshit. Some people just chose to do the absolute minimum to survive/provide for their families at times AND also do A LOT some other times when the situation is, well, different.

I don't need gray hair, RSI, headaches, coffe, glasses etcetera to climb the ladder or drive the latest car. But to each their own.

Also, sorry to those that actually can not function and might feel put down by my comment.

sourcecodeplz··on Urgent: Sign the petition now
Regardless, there are people in this world living on 30 USD per month (or less). I don't care you chose to pay 8k rent per month. This is the wakeup call so many people needed.
sourcecodeplz··on Urgent: Sign the petition now
Might seem like an ahole but can't you guys making 100k+ per year ride it out? We are talking about startup a here, have we forgotten the risks and implications that come with this model?
sourcecodeplz··on ChatGPT's API is so good and cheap, it makes most text generating AI obsolete
I don't think were going to reach winter before we can run our own ChatGPT locally with mundane hardware.
sourcecodeplz··on People with ADHD claim Adderall is ‘different’ now
Don't be ignorant. There are many people living normal lives due to these medications whom would otherwise not be able to function. I do wonder though how did people deal with these problems in the past when neither ADHD or these drugs were recognized and available.
sourcecodeplz··on Etsy Delays Seller Payouts Due to Run on Silicon Valley Bank

sourcecodeplz··on ChatGPT's API is so good and cheap, it makes most text generating AI obsolete
There is plenty of money from the 2012 - 2020 meteoric period that has not been spent yet. If I had plenty of money I would bet on Microsoft and OpenAI, as I am sure others are doing already. Thus they have enough to sustain this growth.
sourcecodeplz··on ChatGPT's API is so good and cheap, it makes most text generating AI obsolete
Who uses Google anyway nowadays besides getting the address of a website you don't remember (assuming you know about ChatGPT).
