snvzz··on Floppy Emu Hardware Failure Analysis Results
Did they ever fail short?
snvzz··on PostmarketOS is rebranding as Nura
They'll come around, eventually.

Or get forked to irrelevance.

snvzz··on Video CDs Break Windows Explorer
>VCD's look like standard iso9660 filesystems, but they are not. Attempting to use the filesystem entries for other than pointers to the start of files will result in pointing off the disk due to invalid data.

I wonder what they were thinking, whoever designed the VCD.

snvzz··on Amiga Screens: A Primer
Neat. 3MB would have been insane. That year, my family bought the 512KB trapdoor expansion for A500, so that we could play Monkey Island. It was every bit worth it!

Of course, the extra 512KB made our Amiga that much more useful, and eventually we did the solder-jumper change to make it chip, as our A500 is a rev6 with the 1MB ECS Agnus.

I still have this A500; now it also has 8mb fast on cpu slot, an ECS denise and a 68010.

snvzz··on Amiga Screens: A Primer
>You could really feel the slow performance with 8 and 16 color Workbench screens on the 500.

Until you added FAST RAM (e.g. via lefthand expansion slot), exclusive to the CPU.

The system prefers allocating there unless CHIP is explicitly requested.

They simply do not want anyone to hear this: Millions must go.
snvzz··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
It's simple: They're based on emotion and/or social consensus (i.e. express the opinion seen as OK to express)
snvzz··on The science of Monkey Island: can grog dissolve a metal mug that fast?
This is what the so-called Frontier is all about.

These models sure are put to good use.

snvzz··on Woman Arrested, Dragged Away After Speaking About Flock at City Council Meeting
Body cameras say otherwise.
snvzz··on ReBarUEFI: Resizable BAR for almost any UEFI system
Regarding Coreboot, it is far worse than that. They literally do not care anymore; focus is not on corebooting all the boards, but on serving some sort of commercial "customer".

e.g. they do seldom if ever take patches for adding support or fixing issues in older boards. They just sit there ignored.

A fork or entire new project with different focus is sorely needed.

snvzz··on Claude Opus 5.5
>safeguards hit: [Cyber]

Yup. As unusable as Fable 5.1, for assembly on 80s 68k personal computer platform. Awful.

snvzz··on Spymarks, not Watermarks
People are most afraid of cameras, somehow.

The concern is valid, but microphones are far worse. They're simpler, smaller, extremely sensitive to sound and an order of magnitude cheaper, both the mic itself as well as any spying with it.

It is possible to record voice using few bytes, to send later. It's further possible to transcribe cheaply into text, and analyze said text.

And mics are already everywhere, including in devices that do not need them, as well as speakers that can be rewired by software to act as microphones.

snvzz··on Raspberry Pi blocks changing RAM chips
Raspberry Pi been scummy for a while e.g. locking codecs behind extra payments. It seems they've gone full mask off at last.

Got here via Jeff Geerling coverage[0].

snvzz··on The Claude Delusion
Too long; better ask Claude to summarize.
snvzz··on ZuckOff Is a Free App That Sees Meta Glasses Before They See You
Until it's hard enough people figure out how easy it is to fit a camera in a regular glass flame, and how much cheaper it is over paying Meta for the privilege.
snvzz··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you
Basic modification: Some tape over the led.
snvzz··on Amiga Unix, Again
Because he's seeing success and fame, while the parent (most frustratingly) isn't.

If it didn't matter to them, they wouldn't have commented what they did.

No project is ever safe from complicators.

This is why we need the KISS enforcers.

snvzz··on Why People Are Sabotaging Flock Surveillance Cameras
>Governments also have the means to destroy peoples property and/or beat people in line.

Only the state has the means to do so. The state holds the monopoly on violence.

>Law enforcement officers across the United States have repeatedly abused

Ever since body cameras, whole ACAB claim has fallen apart. There definitely are bad actors, but they are few and far between.

snvzz··on Suspected sabotage causes major Netherlands rail disruption
False equivalence: These train sabotages aren't even remotely at the level you're presenting them to be.

Any random farmer (which is a convenient label for people working in a specific field, and says nothing else of those people's abilities) can plan such sabotages with LLM help.

Furthermore, they do not need to be done by the average farmer; As with any populace, there's variance between individuals.

snvzz··on Why People Are Sabotaging Flock Surveillance Cameras
The implication is that the only solutions are autocracy and anarchy. The "destroy the cameras" path.

I'd rather we just elect better city councils.

snvzz··on Why People Are Sabotaging Flock Surveillance Cameras
>A government needs to buy the right to have these cameras and the currency is trust.

These individuals destroying cameras, instead of using force to try and impose their will (to no avail), should support candidates that favor the policies they want.

We (supposedly) live in a society. Society is not possible if crime is tolerated.

snvzz··on Claude Code now reads AGENTS.md if there is no Claude.md
Finally.

Now is the time to git mv CLAUDE.md AGENTS.md.

snvzz··on Why People Are Sabotaging Flock Surveillance Cameras
They are destroying others' property, which is as immoral as it gets.

The basics: Do not kill, do not steal, do not destroy.

This is behavior worse than that of rabid animals. It should be treated accordingly.
