sn0n··on The tragedy of running an old Node project
Made a site using nanogen ( https://github.com/doug2k1/nanogen ) about 7 years ago ... Anytime I setup a new machine I do a npm install on whatever version of node I end up on, and it..... Just works.

Beat SSG I've found, and all from a medium or dev article on a SSG in 40 lines or less.

sn0n··on Show HN: CLI for generating PDFs for offline reading
Does it run a headless chrome for pixel perfect formatting as laid out as a webpage and applied in that format to PDF ignoring the pages print css rules? Cuz, that would be a nice start. And an option for size to be pixel width based for ideal layout... Because I won't be printing, I will be viewing on my phone, so one overly large page would be perfect.

sn0n··on Self-hosted photo and video backups directly from your mobile phone
Nextcloud has face recognition iirc as well.
sn0n··on Ask HN: What are my current self-hosted note/diary app options?
Have you looked at nextcloud? Or maybe even syncthing?

I've been having a lot of luck organizing my life with nextcloud this last few months. It does take a little bit of setup, but it has notes, files, and lots more.

Another option is an app like notable (markdown notes) and something to sync across devices with. I hear a lot of people use syncthing, I haven't personally, I have a private git server that I've used in the past, but I've since migrated everything to a private nextcloud server that's only accessable by wireguard when remote or wifi when at home.

sn0n··on GoatCounter: Open-source hosted/self-hosted web analytics
My install got nuked a couple times on updates, but love it otherwise.
sn0n··on Manyverse
Latest update fried my account ... Fortunately I have it installed on every device, so I can just wipe and reload the account, syncing back from my other devices... But I decided that after this happened for a 3rd time, I was done, uninstalled on multiple devices, keeping my least used device with it installed and will not be updating... Don't want to lose it all. It was awesome when it worked, just as a LAN option for transferring bits between devices, but I didn't spend 6 hours installing nextcloud for nothing. Full migration in progress.
sn0n··on Ask HN: Any simple web apps for teaching kids?

sn0n··on MTG Extended 1997
8 out of 10 photos are worth more than a used car, for those not in the know. Loved the nostalgia kick, odd too, not seeing many magic related posts on HN and having gotten out my box a couple nights ago. Great array of decks!
sn0n··on Ask HN: Activity and reading to move through mid-life crisis?
42 year old here... Definitely go down the "Alan watts" rabbit hole... He spit out books like he did public radio talks, and he was on the air for awhile in the 60s early 70s... Lots of him out there. He's definitely worth the midlife listen
