smurf_t··on Google Maps changes a route after the drama of young people lost on a ghost road
It happened to me one in the desert, at night. I have blindly followed Google Maps, and I ended up without a signal, in a middle of no where. Luckily, I was not very far from the city.
smurf_t··on Ask HN: What are you surprised isn’t being worked on more?
Agriculture. With global warming changing traditional farming, the knowledge and expertise of local farmers is not relevant.
smurf_t··on Just Wanted to Say Thanks
Thanks to those who worked tirelessly to work on Open Source projects.
smurf_t··on How to Start a Startup (2014)
Gott yo :)
smurf_t··on How to Start a Startup (2014)
That doesn't change the fact that there were many people in SV at the time. Arguably, Sam and the team did very well.
smurf_t··on How to Start a Startup (2014)
These lectures are timeless. The advises in there are still valuable in .net era.

Just to add to this comment. If users can't watch/read, you can listen to podcasts while you run or drive a car, it can help you to understand how people try to build a business. There was a podcast (How to Start a Startup | Podcast on Spotify) . On that note, I enjoyed also listening to those who are building projects, and share their journeys e.g. Nathan's interviews with SaaS founders (https://nathanlatka.com/podcast-thetop/) and The Startup podcast(https://gimletmedia.com/shows/startup)

smurf_t··on No, Cellebrite Cannot “Break Signal Encryption”
BBC, you failed us here.
smurf_t··on Show HN: 02Books – An open source web app to teach kids to read
Nice work! What is the logic behind choosing the corpora https://github.com/sofignatova/02books/tree/master/corpora_c..., I could find some links in the comments but what was your strategy in picking words/sentences.
smurf_t··on Netflix's Metaflow: Reproducible machine learning pipelines
What are the main advantages compared to Airflow. We use Airflow to orchestrate ML jobs/tasks, and I found it to be more flexible comparing other tools we tested.
smurf_t··on Show HN: Find the safest well lit walking route between two locations
I have attended a talk of a team who built something similar few years ago, it might be interesting for you http://goodcitylife.org/happymaps/index.php
smurf_t··on Show HN: Find out what Facebook knows about you, and clean it up
So the whole idea here is to analyze the data dump from fb. I have checked the website, but it seems that you put efforts to reverse-engineer the logic in the dump and how it is stored. A follow up question. Other than data dump, is there any other sources you use?
smurf_t··on Show HN: The Past, Present, and Future of Kubernetes on Raspberry Pi
Possible dup.

smurf_t··on Show HN: An anti-book recommendation tool, to help you escape your echo chamber
I always thought that recommendation engines should be customized and adjusted by the user. It seems that social platforms are forcing what they think is relevant on me, and I have stopped using some social platforms for this reason. In some cases, I wrote scripts to fetch content (e.g. tweets, rss feeds) and apply my own methods to track topics, or bust the bubble. When the timeline started to show irrelevant topics to my interest (that changed over time), or non-eye opener topics, I usually start leaving the platform as a user.
smurf_t··on Boris Johnson: no-deal Brexit now a 'strong possibility'
what does this mean to Tech in EU/London?
smurf_t··on OpenAI is giving Microsoft exclusive access to its GPT-3 language model
I hope they can give "Open AI" name to huggingface instead. This exclusive agreement is anything but "OPEN".
