x86 hasn't been CISC in 3 decades anywhere but in the frontend. An architecture doesn't consume power, a design does. I'm all for shitting on intel, but getting the facts right wouldn't hurt.
I see a lot of love for Komoot but for me that died when their "top 10 ride in <region>" had a bunch of auto-generated routes linking points of interests, that tried to take me through horrible paths or 4 lane roads.
Yeah author congratulating themselves at the end because their note app is only using hundreds of millions of cycles every seconds, to do essentially nothing...
I remember doing it on a thinkpad. I didn't break any cables, I didn't need a guide, and it got significantly quieter afterwards. Macbooks are pretty, they've got a great CPU, but the repairability is just rubbish
Slack is a constant garbage fire where clearly all the devs have a fast desktop and don’t care about performance or battery use in the slightest. I wish my org would move away from this junk.
In my line of work a bug could cost multiple millions. I do read them. I write long ones. I would love if my colleagues started writing longer ones too.
I do for the most sensitive path of the design, but only because it's needed. I don't want to have to look at it for day-to-day debugging, where it's just a distraction.
If the output SystemVerilog is unreadable I'm unlikely to use this. SV is still the lingua franca for physical tools. I'm not debugging timing on something that looks like this:
Yeah that was my point, you can get rid of a significant portion of requests at the edge with a bloom filter, and there's no reason you have to build the bloom filter locally as requests come in. Instead, it can be created ahead of time, when the dataset is updated.
I must be missing something. You have 2MB of data for "is my 6 character SHA1 prefix in any breach". Why can't you distribute that to every edge nodes ?
Fun. You can tell it's receiving some love right now

Matt Clifford just wants to hoover up the Turing’s funding for his buddies at Entrepreneur First. The same Matt Clifford whose interests weren’t declared [1] when he wrote the UK’s AI policy. Why clowns in the government let him is beyond my understanding.
There was an online contest to vote for Pitbull to go perform at your local Walmart. The internet being what it is, he got sent to the most remote Walmart in the US, Kodiak Alaska. He did go and perform. What a top lad.
