sluggg··on A Cryptocurrency Website Changes Its Data, and $100B in Market Value Vanishes
HEY! this site is amazing and is just what I am looking for. BUT the link you provided is missing a colon after "http" and I thought the site was down for a second. I am sure if others see this they will have similar issues. Please fix your link :)
sluggg··on MacBook Pro? No
oh god I feel you on the keyboard. After using the gen of mbr for ~8 months, a few keys have begun to fail. They require a double tap to fire properly. VERY FRUSTRATING.
sluggg··on A Cryptocurrency Website Changes Its Data, and $100B in Market Value Vanishes
I am deeply surprised by how few people are mentioning bots. This is no doubt directly related to trading bots that are polling coinmarketcap and then buying/selling through some API like the one bittrex offers. The number of bots that are actively trading is unknown, but if you do some digging the amount of resources and interest there is around trading bots leads me to believe that the pool of bots must be massive. I would love to be able to quantify the number of trading bots that are running wild, but my feeble brain can't come up with anything, maybe if I worked at an exchange I would be able to. Any thoughts?

"I typically avoid buying anything processed, those items rapidly ruin my budget." ... what

processed foods are on average considerably cheaper. Spam, hot dogs, bacon, deli meats, and the list goes on and on.

Where do you shop? I am highly skeptical of your claims.

sluggg··on Volunteers needed to teach web dev in NYC and Bay Area
I am attempting to apply for the SF area. I thought that the url did not include "volunteer" at the end b/c the NYC link did not and it took me to a "daily session landing page" ScriptEd google doc that I could edit. Odd. Y'all should fix that.

sluggg··on A 2:15 Alarm, 2 Trains and a Bus Get Her to Work by 7 A.M
yes. Particularly when you are driving to sit on a bus, then on a train where you don't have to be alert at all.
sluggg··on Ask HN: Why don't we have tags on HN?
I may be missing a joke, but what is Lobster's people?
sluggg··on Reverse-engineering the Starbucks ordering API
I would not. Ordering a large group of people drinks from Starbucks is not in any way the primary use case for the application. For it's primary use cases (paying at the store, rewards redemption/collection, ordering yourself drinks ahead) it works perfectly.

Additionally, if you think about the feature set that would be required to facilitate bulk orders then you will quickly find that it would be quite large feature set and require it's own flow. The app does has new-ish features that allow you to re-order prior orders and save drinks, which would help for these bulk orders, so they are making progress. If you are consistently ordering drinks for a large group of your co-workers then you can save their drink preferences and boom.

sluggg··on Students Are Better Off Without a Laptop in the Classroom
True, but Compuguy was not referring to people with medical conditions in my opinion. He is referring to the "many" that don't want make a concentrated effort to improve their handwriting but could if they did.

If a student has a medical condition that makes it so their handwriting is not legible then they probably had the same issue in HS and should be able to navigate College bureaucracy well enough to get the exemption status.

sluggg··on Chinese umbrella-sharing startup loses most of its 300,000 umbrellas in 3 months
Well... it was a completely unrelated comparison. One that was mildly offensive and could not be defended. Your "one-line conjecture" deserves even harsher critique imo
sluggg··on Chinese umbrella-sharing startup loses most of its 300,000 umbrellas in 3 months
A seven-year old could tell the six-year old that buzzwords, and words in general for that matter, don't have a fixed definition. The English language is constantly evolving.
sluggg··on Chinese umbrella-sharing startup loses most of its 300,000 umbrellas in 3 months
"Probably a small number of people with mental illness issues."

A) Most of us have no notion of how many people have mental illness issues.

B) Mental illness issues widely go unreported, so you have know idea how many people have mental health issues.

The comparison you made undermines the legitimacy of your argument.
