slezyr··on Godot maintainer removes controversial satirical piece from documentation
So, they just removed the entire article. Do they think, that they have too much documentation? Those methods are still there in the code.[1] Don't like it - update it. Why remove the entire thing?

That's just a griefing of the documentation.

slezyr··on Blender 2.92
That's just a support for CPU rendering. How are going to render without GPU acceleration? It might take hours to finish.
slezyr··on Blender 2.92
Well, it's dead. It was dead even before M1. It's not fun to render on CPU.

> GPU rendering is only supported on Windows and Linux; macOS is currently not supported.

slezyr··on OpenScan Offers 10-Micron 3D Scanning on a Raspberry Pi and HQ Camera Module
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OpenScanEu/OpenScan/master...

I think this project is about making a bunch of photos of the object and share them with SAMBA. Then you can load them into meshroom or another software. It's not all in one package.

slezyr··on Nvidia announces mining GPUs, cuts the hash rate of RTX-3060 in half
5700XT costs 1000$ in Ukraine. It cost 500$ when it just got released. WTF?

Edit: 1100$ actually.

slezyr··on Why does my PC crash only when my cat is nearby?
I've had this one, but with a bunny. Carpet + Bunny + PC that stands on the floor, so each time bunny ran near the PC it caused a hard freeze due to statics.
slezyr··on Clubhouse’s Inevitability
And it works on more than one OS.
slezyr··on Pine64 Februrary Update: Show and Tell
I think that all these small factor laptops should just use JJ50 layout[1] for the keyboard. It makes no sense to arrange them into old QWERTY-style, you can't use it comfortably anyway.

slezyr··on BeagleV – The First Affordable RISC-V Computer Designed to Run Linux
> The StarFive JH7100 is equipped with a 4K ready VPU but lacks a 3D GPU. However, according to reports from CNXSoft and ArsTechnica, a version with an Imagination Technologies PowerVR GPU will ship in September. The initial GPU-less model will “use the Vision DSP hardware as a graphics processor, allowing a full graphical desktop environment under Fedora,” says ArsTechnica.

They have Blueprints[1] (visual scripting) and had a scripting language. However, they have removed it since then.

slezyr··on TechEmpower Framework Benchmarks: Round 20
Yeah, the benchmark is no longer useful due to all the micro-optimizations in the code that never happen in the real world.

Most of them check the Nth letter of the HTTP method to do routing, hard code the content-length, etc. This benchmark shows which language is the fastest to throw the hardcoded data into the socket.

Meantime, Django[1] is the simplest and a real-world application.

slezyr··on Nuvola Player – Linux desktop integration for web-based streaming services
Interesting to see that software in Vala doing great. Unlike other languages like Zig or Rust there is almost nothing about it here.

slezyr··on "ERROR: could not open temporary file" after upgrade to Mac OS Big Sur
> you are behind the times

Seriously? What is wrong with running programs natively without any layers in between?

Also, IIRC PostgreSQL isn't recommended to be run in docker due to a possible data loss?

slezyr··on Looking for More Debugger
Qt Creator's debugger is almost perfect for my goals. It's, probably, the most user-friendly. However, I wish I could feed gdb commands directly to it.

You can already buy it from Ali Express.

slezyr··on Clubhouse for X – The emerging trend of audio-only applications
I wonder how popular this trend is going to be? I don't like audio books/podcasts, etc. and prefer text-only content.

slezyr··on Why Zig when there is already C++, D, and Rust?
> - No operator overloading

Ehh??? It's the first point there.

And I don't like all this hate for operator overloading. I prefer to write "vec1 * (vec2 + vec3)" instead of "vec1.mul(vec2.plus(vec3))".

slezyr··on Odroid-Go Super: $80 Games Console That Looks Like a Switch, but Runs Ubuntu
Yeah, XBox Gamepad + Phone holder[1] is the best combo for your hands. I don't think, that it's comfortable to play on these small consoles.

slezyr··on AMD Launches Ryzen 5000 Mobile: Zen 3 and Cezanne for Notebooks
There are just two models with AMD and HiDPI displays: Microsoft Surface Laptop 3, Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. It seems that the laptop market simply ignores AMD's mobile CPUs for middle-, high- end laptops.
slezyr··on CMake and the Future of C++ Package Management
Nix doesn't have win32/64 packages or I'm missing something?

Now you can use Conan + CMake to build a project with OpenSSL and Boost deps on Mac, Win, Linux. And it seems that Nix is very far from doing this.

slezyr··on Samsung Confirms AMD RDNA GPU in Next Exynos Flagship
