sleepdreamy··on Hacker group Guacamaya leaks military and police emails from various countries
Peculiar
sleepdreamy··on If Your Quiet Quitting Is Going Well, You Might Be Getting ‘Quiet Fired’
This guy is so out of touch it's laughable. These people have never been close to missing rent. Or eating bread for dinner because that's all you can afford. It really does show

It's gnarly to see the stark contrast in lives being lived between wealthy/normal people.

If you make 100k you are still a nobody to these people. What weird times we're living in..

sleepdreamy··on How history/tech YouTube channel Asianometry reached 270K subscribers, $5K/month
This rings true even for clearly necessary fields - I've had clients balk at pricing for a complete revamp of their network. Do you think I googled 'How to setup Company Network Safely' and went to work? Years of knowledge etc; that a lot of these guys don't care to understand

Most people chose to be ignorant in this manner. They'd rather spend as little as possible and denounce your skill rather than understand why xyz costs as much as it does.

sleepdreamy··on Russian airlines ordered to stop selling tickets to Russian men aged 18 to 65
Meh.

I have a weirdly unique counter-point. Of course totally anecdotal but: I lived in a shore town for a few years that exclusively had a ton of Ukrainian/Russian workers over the summertime.

Not only were they usually quite attractive - they were also intelligent and hard working (most of the time, emphasis on MOST of the time)

You had to be careful as they would latch onto you for obvious reasons but they were honestly typically pleasant. (Green Card, etc;)

Where did you hear/read about russian horror stories?

sleepdreamy··on What I’ve learned from users
Agree. I've heard of this going very well, and other times you get zero bites. I think the courtesy/approach of the email also determines if this works or not.

If you start off combative I think its much less likely to go well.

I just let my fiancée know recently that this is how I intend to purchase our next vehicle. Strictly through email until the day I go to pick it up in person. If they say 'You have to come in' to talk price I am going to hang up immediately and call the next dealer on my list.

sleepdreamy··on What I’ve learned from users
How does that work? You write a stranger a 30,000 check?

I don't see how this is preferable if you are purchasing nice/new or high end vehicles.

Something is deeply wrong with her father!!!

Probably my least favorite consumer experience leans toward purchasing cars. Ironically I also LOVE cars. Hate buying them though

sleepdreamy··on The anti-inflation pivot of 2022
Wow - this is mind boggling. Also..kind of scary? I guess any big financial decision is scary but I didn't know that was America exclusive. Do you know if European countries have fixed rates or does it go up ever 5 years or so
sleepdreamy··on The anti-inflation pivot of 2022
The allure of home ownership in America is the fixed mortgage rate among other things. (Rent goes up each year, without question).

I purchased a home at the start of this mess with an 2.6%. Right now it's hovering around 6%. I would say I MASSIVELY lucked out.

Does Canada not fix the rate? I am confused -

I will be deleting my Patreon Account. I work in Hacking/Remediation. This is a big ol' red flag
sleepdreamy··on Excuse me but why are you eating so many frogs
It's not uncommon. In the south they eat it, I personally have had frog and it tasted like chicken to me. I try all kinds of weird food because why not.

I cross the line at eating spiders. Nope

I did even better than him when I was dating and am objectively more attractive in many ways. So no, I am not wrong. He is a solid 6. lmao.

I appreciate your input though!

sleepdreamy··on Will I Ever See the $36MM Oberlin College Owes Me?
Is it absurd though? Their business existed for 139 years(or something) but literally over 100 years in business. You also need to factor in potential future earnings etc; Would the Bakery make 35mm? Probably not. Will the University? With ease. Both need to be taken into account, not just one.

It's really tricky and I personally feel that number is appropriate to fine a university considering they have no issue taking loans with zero conscience. Gladly accept 50-200,000 from 18 year olds with limited life experience. The judgement is fair

sleepdreamy··on The toll of dating app burnout
How you 'feel' isn't always reality. I am not dating now, but it's a bit odd to suggest you can't put yourself out there because of the 'climate' or 'culture'. Who cares what the climate is, if you're being genuine and nice there is nothing to worry about.

If you're worried you will be perceived as a creep then you need to work on your delivery/how you approach strangers.

Members of the opposite sex are just people. They want to be treated normally. My most successful male friend(in terms of dating) just treats females like they're normal people. He pretty much never has trouble and he is a 6 at most with a shitbox car.

I used to think women only care about money etc; and That is true..for a certain subset of women. So many more don't care at all, and just want a nice loyal person who won't shit on them. And yes, you need to moderately TRY to look attractive. Go to the gym, get a proper haircut, stop wearing those shitty jeans and ugly shoes. YOU also need to put in effort, it's not just on the other gender.

sleepdreamy··on Investors bought a quarter of US homes sold last year
If your mortgage is 1000 and you charge 3 Students 700 a head, you now have 1100 left over. Put 500 away for repairs and pocket the 600. 600x5 = 3000 USD Straight Profit. If you don't put anything away for repairs: 2100 - 1000 = 1100 x5 = 5,500 a month = 66,000 a year for 5 homes

That is shockingly bad. I was going to make a comment about how ridiculous your comment is..until I did the math! Kudos

sleepdreamy··on Investors bought a quarter of US homes sold last year
My interest rate is 2.7% - We've been in the house for close to a year now. Renting was going to be 700 more MINUMUM. I couldn't justify not buying but also feel..unsure about everything for obvious reasons.
sleepdreamy··on Investors bought a quarter of US homes sold last year
What gift would that be? Genuine question - I don't see what gift I received that is comparible to my in-laws purchasing their first home for 30k and flipping it for 100k not long after. I haven't had a gift close to that.

I personally would rather just get an ultimate luxury vehicle at that price point or a suped out Porsche.
