skylarsch··on How Banks Could Control Gun Sales If Washington Won’t
I live in California, where I can't use a credit card to purchase marijuana. It's "considerably harder" to stop by the ATM on way to my local dispensary. Sometimes there is even a line!
skylarsch··on YouTube Go: YouTube reimagined for the next generation of YouTube viewers
The YouTube app proper can play offline videos already. The catch is, you have to have a YouTube Red subscription.

I don't think it's a technical issue at all, but a "people pay for this feature wherever YouTube Red is available" issue.

skylarsch··on Show HN: A stupid simple note app
Thanks. Honestly I'm not that concerned about it. If there is a sudden mysterious spike in traffic I may look into it.

Not really a fan of CAPTCHA. May have some kind of "How many kittens are in the picture"

I hadn't really thought about it. Threw this together in an evening.

Right now I'm not concerned just because it's not very popular. May have to think about adding some kind of check in the future.

skylarsch··on Show HN: HN Browser, yet another Hacker News reader on iPhone
Nicely done. A couple of things I noticed...

- When panning the UI to show the left menu, it doesn't always open when the touch ends, even if it's mostly open.

- If there are no comments tapping on the "no comments" cell selects it blue and there is no deselect.

- Comments 'meta data' is displayed as "on (null) :username"

Overall it's a nice app, and a really good job for a "learning" project.

(iOS 6.0.1 iPhone 5)

skylarsch··on How many of you are allowed to drink beer at work?
We have a kegerator and frequently go out to local breweries for lunch.

No one gets "drunk" but it's a nice way to wind down the day.
