This is why companies are trying to break into it. Hardware is the main gap at the moment but Apple is the best hardware manufacturer in the world. The M chips are a step in this direction (high performance, low power).

I think you partially addressed that already with the privilege part. I know my city has rough areas that definitely have an increased risk of getting mugged, robbed or just jumped for no reason. Knowing that is enough to keep me from going around there unless I have a reason.
I wouldn’t say they’re behind, just solving a different problem. Should they have focused on inside city and highway driving? Probably. Would’ve had a good product sooner. Even if they don’t win this whole thing, they pushed the entire industry in a good direction.
Also, 99 cents a month for the cheapest plan isn’t too bad for everything it gives you. If you’re in the iOS/Apple ecosystem, it’s a worthwhile purchase.
Irony of losing out on HN traffic this time.
A true FPSMMORPG. Closest thing we have to this with a good community is Destiny. I wish for fully open worlds, good storylines and everything you said. I believe that was the original idea with the project that became Overwatch but sad it didn’t pan out.
I understand that level building and all is much harder when the expectation of detail is higher in FPS but hopefully that gets easier with better tools. I would think that it’s still Bungie’s ultimate goal. Hopefully Destiny can evolve into that. Whatever game does it right, has the potential to be one of the biggest games ever.

I think it’s fine if you use the website with information you don’t mind sharing but their extensions are reading everything you write.
“Although these biases did not significantly inflate estimates of drug efficacy, reporting biases led to significant increases in the number of positive findings in the literature.”
Which is literally the opposite of what you’re citing on efficacy.
Even big tech has shit engineers but it seems to have a higher percentage of good ones. They get paid more because of the impact of their work and how much the company values them.
A group of good engineers can make miracles happen. A team with one rockstar and some mediocre people are going to struggle to make the same impact. That’s why you pay to attract groups of good talent. It’s not about individual contribution but the work of the whole team.
Vows are not morally or legally binding. It’s good if people want to take them seriously but people leave each other for lesser things than decades long depression.
Its major flaw is thin upright things like small trees or poles (although this may be better on vision only cars, I’m not sure). If it sees a person or child in its path, it’s just going to stop.
You’re paying fees to transfer crypto.
That said, it’s free and instant with services like Zelle.
But yeah, the article is pretty weak. People keep trying because AR/VR is going to be massive if the hardware is solved. Being the gateway to a person’s entire world (AR) or the next major media and productivity tools (VR) will make you one of the most powerful companies in the world.
Saw it in Dolby Cinema which, I think, is an IMAX competitor.
This is a great supplement to anyone who didn’t read the book but saw the movie. That said, the book would probably be even better for that.
