So you are filtering out candidates that have families or lives outside of work that do not spend their free time coding?
sure, they have extra time to see you work before the conversion, but its still very expensive to host interns, especially ones you aren't confident in converting.
Then diablo4 credits almost 10k people in making it, and although a fun game, feels like its basically still in beta with all the basic features its missing.
it seems reddit is already struggling with that piece, so gotta do whatever you can.
they send a bill of the expected amount, and you do your taxes on your end (if you so choose) to make sure its correct. If wrong, you submit your taxes, and move on with life.
for the vast majority of people, you have a w2 or some other accounts that submit stuff to the IRS, and these same people mostly take standard deductions, its a simple computation.
The US likely wont do this, because they potentially miss out on income that honest peopel will report, when it hasn't been reported to them (for example cash tips / gambling winnings under W2G and things like that.
They got bit by interest rates, which they should have managed better, and the bank needs to go down, but dont bring down a huge amount of workers with it.
Also, you are talking about a major banking collapse if people start thinking that their deposits aren't safe. (a lot of people will start pulling money, even if under 250k). There are so many irrational people out there...
edit: I guess somewhere in what I said was confusing, I was referring to past fails where most deposits were likely well under the 250k. NOT SVB where the vast majority were well above that threshold.
But when it comes to depositors, I think it makes a lot of sense to make them whole, especially in the case of SVB where the bank likely has pretty close to enough assets to cover the liabilities (deposits), but its tied up in such long term investments that it could take a long time to get it out.
But moreso, when we invest in companies, we deep down know there is a possibility of the investment going to 0. We often don't think when I put money in a bank it can go belly up, this would obviously hurt the trust in our banking environment if depositors not made whole.
A true, "bailout" would basically be that the bank survives, they are given moneys to make it through and then all the workers/deposits are screwed. ie. 2008
