There is a trend to get pharmaceuticals to a stage where flow chemistry can be used (like a small version of the full blown basic chemicals processes). This is however still a research field because a lot of processes don't lend themselves to continue flow.
The most automation in chemistry can be found in the analytical side of things. A good example right now are the covid tests that are run on large automated liquid handling systems.
Sure thing... This disqualified itself really quickly.
Just because this approach works for CS and a lot of humanities classes this can not be generalized. I have the feeling on here the technology optimism sometimes clouds the view on the reality.
Just some examples here: biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, medicine... To be any use you have to have more than a couple mooc classes.
I usually keep it analog though because a ruby piece of paper that fills over time is more tangible than a doc. But i guess that is personal preference ;)
