sieabahlpark··on Schools Are Back and Confronting Devastating Learning Losses
Almost like keeping them home for two years wasn't the best idea.
sieabahlpark··on Google Pixel 6 still freezes when calling Emergency Services
Don't know what you're talking about. My pixel 6 pro or whatever works great and the pixel 5 I have works fine.

"All phones have these problems" is just false.

sieabahlpark··on Cloudflare's abuse policies and approach
It's an American company hosting content for an American. The laws of America apply.
sieabahlpark··on Cloudflare's abuse policies and approach
That's my point, Twitter has the same content about priests. What's the big deal, no one is in a tizzy about Twitter hosting that content.
sieabahlpark··on Cloudflare's abuse policies and approach
Not anything I haven't read on Twitter about priests. Seriously, that's what everyone is upset about?
sieabahlpark··on D2: A new declarative language to turn text into diagrams
Would you believe me if I said this was just an ad and you wasted time on it?

Just because HN isn't Reddit doesn't mean ads aren't thrown in with all the curated "content"

sieabahlpark··on Ask HN: Is there a developer laptop that does not suck and is not a Mac in 2022?
Imagine paying a rental on your development environment.
sieabahlpark··on The Student Loan Giveaway Is Much Bigger Than You Think
You know, they wouldn't have that problem if the loans could have the threat of default. You trim what you don't need and highly focus on what ensures the loan doesn't default.

It is literally risk free money so they're going to inflate the price so that they get the most for least investment and least risk.

sieabahlpark··on Stop saying “They shouldn't have invested more than they could afford to lose”
No, because that's literally what investing is. You are investing hoping for a return. It's not a loan. You're not loaning money expecting to make back the premium and interest.
sieabahlpark··on It's quite hard to lose a Duolingo streak
Were you really reading that much in five minutes anyway? It doesn't sound like you changed much.
sieabahlpark··on Why America can’t build
I'll tell you why that is a non starter. I live 25 miles away and I'm not riding a bus or chain of buses for 2-3 hours for work.

I will drive myself directly to work and save myself 2 hours. I don't care if it's worse for the rest, you couldn't pay me to sit on a bus for 2-3 hours just so I can sit in an office for 8 and then make the whole trip home at the end of the day.

Sorry not sorry.

sieabahlpark··on EPA raises amount of ethanol that must be blended with gas
So it's purposely to destroy gasoline cars? Sounds pretty wasteful for the environment to take all of these existing cars out, replace them with EVs, and dump the requirements into the electric grid.

So what, we need 300m new EVs, and a place to tear down all the current gas cars in America? Perfect, I'll buy a Tesla so Elon gets richer.

sieabahlpark··on EPA raises amount of ethanol that must be blended with gas
Fantastic! It's like this administration is trying to kill the poorest people.
sieabahlpark··on California Court Says Bees Are Fish
The clown of drunk driving senator families and clowns.

It honestly sounds like a drunken conversation. "Hey you there, bees are fish man, we're all FROM fish."

sieabahlpark··on Can the SEC stand up to the richest man on the planet?
The SEC is a weak organization that can barely figure out the issues that surround shorting non-existent shares. Whatever "justice" seething liberals think would happen from a fine is literally cheaper than him paying the $1b backout fee.

I swear the amount of useless drivel that goes around in a "journalists" head is fever dreams. Elon is apparently the equivalent of Satan and his purchase of Twitter is the "end of democracy" when Trump being president was the "end of democracy". Any speculation or forcing of various branches of government to stop the purchase of Twitter is just petty and begs the question just how valuable Twitter is to the political left.

sieabahlpark··on Can the SEC stand up to the richest man on the planet?
They would change who the "richest" people are?
sieabahlpark··on U.S. Midwest in danger of rotating power blackouts this summer
If only the costs and time were ever considered.
sieabahlpark··on U.S. Midwest in danger of rotating power blackouts this summer
Everyone from a blue state that pointed at Texas as a red failure, yes.
sieabahlpark··on Facebook Made This 29-Year-Old Rich; War Made Him a Billionaire
Crappy paywall link.
sieabahlpark··on Americans are poorly served by their grocery stores
The purpose of this article is to serve as propaganda. It purposely diverts the blame from the government to the "big bad stores"
sieabahlpark··on Classified specs leaked on War Thunder forum for third time
They just want to know their OP tank is OP because of this secret
sieabahlpark··on Tweaks to IPv4 could free up millions of addresses
What an exceptionally wasteful idea.
sieabahlpark··on Netflix’s anti-password sharing experiment in Peru leaves users confused
> Sister getting divorced? Add 2 screens for her so she and the kids have some sense of normalcy and fun as they go through the hardest part of their life they've known.

I like how Netflix is the solution to divorce in this little world you made.

sieabahlpark··on One-Third of Americans Making $250k Live Paycheck-to-Paycheck
Wow if only not owning a car worked outside of a city. Except it doesn't, even in the city, if you have family outside of the city how do you visit them? Would you rent a car or have someone make the trip to get you?
sieabahlpark··on Why is it traitorous to understand the people you disagree with?
It's almost as if an entire platform is built on making sure the arguments are misconstrued and using buzz phrases like "science believer" and "anti-vaxer". It completely destroys what actual argument exists because it's using targeted language.

It's subversive and a direct influence on how politics are taken. You can be against unnecessary medication and be called an anti-vaxer. You can doubt a scientific conclusion without being anti-science.

You just cannot defend yourself against these accusations because they're triggers which purposely end discussions. These phrases are directly linked to terms which are generally universally agreed upon to be good natured. "Safe", "experts", "effective", "empathetic".

It's an attack on the language so that discourse is controlled and effectively one sided.

sieabahlpark··on Google’s past failures were on full display at I/O 2022
So? Google has a reputation for killing projects left and right. They are known for creating gates to keep people locked to their ad system. Manifest v3 is an atrocity. They cannot stop breaking the web in order to ship more ads.
sieabahlpark··on Firefox Browser Hacked in 8 Seconds Using 2 Critical Security Flaws
Mozilla is just a shittier Google now. They purposely make a terrible browser so that the media just drives everyone to Chrome.
sieabahlpark··on People hated shopping carts when they first came out
It's almost like CNN isn't very credible.
sieabahlpark··on Tech companies are censoring the violent crackdown on Iranian protestors
Makes you wonder why people think the censorship of anything is a good thing in the first place.

Truly misguided.

sieabahlpark··on Data-Driven Deportation in the 21st Century
It wouldn't need to if we just enforced the existing laws at the border.
