sidibe··on Grok Has Been Suspended
Maybe the free speech absolutist who said using "decolonization" will get you suspended from X put something in place that accidentally got grok
sidibe··on Try and
Usually these extra insights are interesting but incorrect. Like here I think. I don't think there's any different expectations between someone saying "try and" and "try to" except it's maybe a very loosely correlated signal of social class

Another example is I've seen people several times online trying to argue y'all can be singular and all y'all is a way to make it clearly plural. Ok it's interesting that y'all is used as singular and all y'all isn't just about inclusion, but its not true.

sidibe··on The surprise deprecation of GPT-4o for ChatGPT consumers
There may be a couple of them that are serious but I think mostly people are just having fun being part of a fictional crazy community. Probably they get a kick out of it getting mentioned elsewhere though
sidibe··on GPT-5
I would be surprised if they didn't, just from the difference in number of employees and resources. Google can pursue 20x as many dead ends, anthropic and openai have to commit to a few things and hope they're right
sidibe··on Tesla must pay portion of $329M damages after fatal Autopilot crash, jury says
It also ignores how Tesla promoted "autopilot". Until very recently tesla.com/autopilot just showed that a video saying the driver was only there for legal reasons. Yes maybe technically they meant FSD (for which it's also a lie, and which has a lying name as well) but they were definitely mixing the terms up themselves (and I think the video predated FSD)
sidibe··on Tesla Launches Ride Hailing Service in the Bay Area
Uber has had notoriously hard time being profitable even with drivers bringing their own vehicle and barely scraping by.

Continuing to pretend they're making progress on Robotaxi is getting more and more expensive for Tesla at the same time as their free cash flow is falling

sidibe··on Tour de France confronts a new threat: Are cyclists using tiny motors?
Motordoping has been talked for decade+. The new rage is training with carbon monoxide
sidibe··on Tour de France confronts a new threat: Are cyclists using tiny motors?
Froome was just good old fashioned doping.
sidibe··on Starlink is currently experiencing a service outage
Maybe very briefly before it get flagged
sidibe··on Yet another bad three months as Tesla reports its Q2 2025 results
If you're a serious holder of Tesla and doubted Elon you would probably just sell rather than try to change it because the premium of the stock is all Elon and his ability to convince people of his abilities, nothing about the rest of the company warrants a tenth of its valuation.

The ones that are bullish and holding Tesla are bullish on Elon. Maybe some institutions that have to hold it as part of their funds would step up, but they went along with the fans last compensation vote when Elon threatened to walk away. I guess they don't want the price going down suddenly either

sidibe··on Elon Musk on Robotaxis 2019 vs. 2025
It's playing to Elon's narrative to even mention regulatory hurdles when it's clear they aren't technically there either. He'd love if they were banned because FSD is still completely unreliable and his 10 robotaxis have already had many documented issues. Unfortunately hard to keep his story with waymo running actual Robotaxis with no employees in them.
sidibe··on How Tesla is proving doubters right on why its robotaxi service cannot scale
They go out of their way to avoid sensor fusions because they are not allowed to use other sensors. Some people seem to have no limits to their credulity.
sidibe··on Ex-Waymo engineers launch Bedrock Robotics to automate construction
Yeah if it was legal instead of technical hoops buildings would be flying up in unincorporated parts of Mississippi or Alabama. There's a huge difference between states when it comes to codes and enforcement
sidibe··on Grok 4 Heavy Protects it's System prompt
Like with X, it has a GitHub repo so it is transparent! It's what's all over the internet that it's trained on that made it randomly obsessed with white genocide on South Africa and try to work that into every conversation that one week
sidibe··on Grok 4 Launch [video]
There is a large variety of opinions in this thread, they just have very different visibility
sidibe··on Grok 4 Launch [video]
You are making the mistake of taking one of Elon's presentations at face value.
sidibe··on Elon Musk's Grok praises Hitler, shares antisemitic tropes in new posts
Flagged like this one will be. I do not come to this website to see people talking negatively about my idol or his hard work
sidibe··on Seine reopens to Paris swimmers after century-long ban
+1, I always recommend this. It's interesting, doesn't take very long, and well situated right in the middle of the tourism to get a little break from whatever the outside weather is.
sidibe··on First Autonomous Delivery of a Tesla
Now that all this nonstop quackery of Elon is recognized by most people, I'm surprised I still haven't heard anyone say anything about this battery swap demo that helped get them big government funding. Somehow they set up this snazzy announcement with big screens but were unable to place any cameras or lights to show the actual battery swap https://youtu.be/6_XEv2f_Uhw?si=w5nMTnv5kAxoI0oj
sidibe··on AlphaGenome: AI for better understanding the genome
There are more valuable companies but there aren't companies with more resources. If apple wanted to turn all their cash pile into something like Google's infrastructure it would still take years
sidibe··on Tesla Robotaxi Videos Show Speeding, Driving into Wrong Lane
Yes he invited all the Tesla influencers / TSLA stock promoters to Austin and they're the only ones allowed to use this service for now, predictably they are gushing about it and even on the rides with the screw ups they avoid mentioning them in the videos, just other people pointed them out on X

Funnily enough some of the stock promoters were streaming themselves getting to the ride area accidentally using Waymos through Uber

sidibe··on Elon Musk once again claims Tesla robotaxis are coming soon
It's such a concrete date and capability, I'm curious to see how he weasels out of this one or what words he can redefine this time. Maybe he can get the evil liberal city government to ban them just in time.
sidibe··on FAA to eliminate floppy disks used in air traffic control systems
I believe his solution for ATC was to make sure they weren't hiring minorities
sidibe··on Musk-Trump dispute includes threats to SpaceX contracts
The only talents they are great at are grift and daring someone to enforce rules against them in a society that largely relies on people holding themselves to standards and risk avoidance instead of active enforcement.
sidibe··on DNS traffic spiked as Musk–Trump clash boosted Truth Social (+268%) and X (+20%)
I don't think Elon will survive 3.5 years. He's spiraling already and the future is looking bleak for his companies or at least him being in charge of them, I think more than a 50% chance of OD or suicide soon
sidibe··on Elon Musk says SpaceX will decommission Dragon spacecraft after Trump threat
Their fans will never have deaf ears for them. You can predictably watch them flip flop in sync with their leaders. the only question is how the poor suckers who have been firmly in both cults deal with this new tension
sidibe··on Musk says Trump is named in Epstein files
Hope all the rugged individualists and libertarians on this site are Ok! Always felt awful for kids who have to choose between mom and dad in a tough divorce.
sidibe··on Cloud Run GPUs, now GA, makes running AI workloads easier for everyone
I'm sure lot of people at Amazon and Google are aware small customers want this and it's a feature they'd like to brag about, but it is much harder to implement a real time quota on spend than a daily batched job for the money part + realtime resource scoped quotas.
sidibe··on There is an 80 percent chance Starship's engine bay issues are solved
Eric Berger, earning that access as always!
sidibe··on At Amazon, some coders say their jobs have begun to resemble warehouse work
> won't there always be something to do that pushes the boundaries of human needs and desires that can't be done by AI?

No why would there be? Unless you are spiritual, there isn't any reason any of the physical processes that make up human thought can't be done artificially, probably much more efficiently. Society needs to confront the myth that automation is going to always open up more jobs that need human labor. It's comforting for people who hate the idea of UBI or other safety nets that people can keep "retraining". Eventually there's going to be nothing to retrain to (at least of nothing of economic value)
