I live in the area and have never seen a fire move this rapidly. The high winds were a major culprit.
I'll admit the design has grown on me, and we need more mainstream vehicles challenging the boring design "norms".
I would love to see a cross between the Model Y and Cybertruck in the future.
Basically it’s a neat party trick at the moment. I do hope to see it improve however!
Things will get extremely interesting and we're incredibly fortunate to be witnessing what's happening.
Ultimately it's algorithmic diffusion of responsibility that leads to unintended consequences.
Microsoft has its top-tier distribution advantages, plus they can build native integrations with Github/Azure etc to take things to a new level - think one-click deployments built into VSCode.
In fact, given the rising popularity of Replit/Vercel/etc I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft is cooking as we speak.
Keep in mind Cursor is just a fork of VSCode, with AI features that are pretty much just embedded extensions. Their product is great, but many users would prefer a bring-your-own-key & selecting their own model providers.
Anecdotally, most of my female friends here in LA prefer Waymo over Uber for this reason (safety), especially when leaving bars late at night.
I fully expect 20+ trillion $ companies by the end of this decade.
Riding it is now a mundane experience, and that's a marvel in itself. Every time I'm forced to get an Uber in another city (or do airport rides as Waymo doesn't do pickups/dropoffs in LAX yet), I feel like I went 5 years back in time.
My Tesla has FSD and that has gotten progressively better the last few updates, however Waymo still feels ahead. I can truly "relax" in a Waymo, where FSD still makes me uneasy at times, like I'm supervising a teenage driver.
It also still hasn't found the "killer apps" just yet, but it's clear Apple is still heavily invested into this considering there's nearly 30 sessions on VisionOS at WWDC this week.

I’m a director of product & Gen AI with over a decade of experience working in tech as a SWE, founder, and technical product manager. I’ve built and scaled products & teams for companies in all sorts of industries (most recently in the healthcare space), and thrive in startups & fast-paced environments where I'm able to drive product & engineering initiatives. I'm a problem solver & hacker at heart, and passionate about applied AI & AGI.
I’m predominantly interested in senior product/engineering opportunities at companies in the AI space whose mission values I align with - ideally centered around leveraging technology for accelerating human progress.
We’re witnessing an arms race for compute, as compute will likely be the primary constraint for building AGI.
If you believe AGI/ASI is imminent, the demand curve for compute will far exceed supply for the foreseeable future.
(Disclaimer: I am heavily biased, as a longtime investor in Nvidia + semiconductors, since 2014+).
