I actually agree with both of you, if that's possible.

I'm not a doctor but I can tell you what they will say and save op $200 for a useless visit. Doctor will mention there's no data and does not recommend it.

How about say that first instead of trying to cancel someone from posting?

That's what I don't understand, if population growth is stagnant or declining, how is it these housing prices are reaching such heights?

I don't understand your view that population growth is required to manage debt. Isn't it inflation that reduces the future value of such debts?

shortandsweet··on Mistakes I've Made as an Engineering Manager
Read the data. Salary jobs don't get paid more for working more. Paid vacation is the norm for professionals.

Actually it's not a myth. Look up bureau of labor statistics. Women clearly make less than men. I feel something must be done to resolve compensation when controlling for skills, experience, etc, gender alone shouldn't result in lower pay.

And we'll cancel and silence everyone's opinions and feelings until that happens?
shortandsweet··on Mistakes I've Made as an Engineering Manager
I really think we can all learn a ton by sharing our mistakes. I wanted to implement this in the office but nobody would share. I have no problem sharing now I've messed up but I'm also weird in a lot of social respects.
shortandsweet··on Mistakes I've Made as an Engineering Manager
Have you had that happen?

Ohhhh boy you're in for it now. I'd suggest a quick edit on why you feel it is favoristism.

Curious about your mentoring program. How does it work? I always feel that who am I to really provide advice?

I was recently asked to attend a virtual mentoring session and I didn't due to scheduling conflicts but I had no idea what to say had I attended. I was going to kick it off if they had any questions about anything and then move into my career over the years. I didn't want to share too much because I feel it would be bragging.

shortandsweet··on New malware found on 30k Macs has security pros stumped
Mainly because I have and use 5 browsers and can never remember which one I logged into. There is not a chance that I'll remember my password. I wish. There's just way too many. Also don't use a pw manager on my phone due to security reasons.
shortandsweet··on New malware found on 30k Macs has security pros stumped
Hmn I dunno what it was to be honest. I checked multiple times and refreshed, at least I thought I did. Shrug. My app that I'm using has no settings to showdead so I wouldn't be surprised if the refresh didn't work as it doesn't from time to time.

I really need a new app. Any recommendations?

You're free to do that. I have life insurance and disability insurance that are not linked to my employer. I haven't pulled the trigger on health insurance because I've heard it's super expensive but maybe I will someday.
shortandsweet··on The Texas power outage is a nation-wide problem
Absolutely! But not just tech, the internet as well.
shortandsweet··on The Texas power outage is a nation-wide problem
The 3 separately controlled grids have been around a lot longer than 20 years. Blaming politicians doesn't really solve much. The regulatory boards are not Republicans or democrats, those representatives are in the US government.
shortandsweet··on The Texas power outage is a nation-wide problem
If you're defining a couple houses as having power, sure. If you're talking about recovering the entire customer base? Not a chance. Power Distribution grids have been running on margin for years, if not lowering capacity. Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about but you still need to post. I don't understand why. Care to share why?
shortandsweet··on What went wrong with the Texas power grid?
Can't really say it's a regulation vs deregulation issue. I've worked for both and it's incredibly difficult to get anyone to do anything other than a broke fix. Once something breaks or someone dies, that's when it's taken seriously. I wish I had a problem statement and a solution to go with it.
shortandsweet··on The nation’s oldest juvenile lifer, Joe Ligon, left prison after 68 years
Fellow peasant, I think you may be confused. It isn't so much because he's white but more of not poor. Please refrain from race baiting and focus on the true reason. I know it's difficult to understand because the rich have certainly done a great job at implanting such an idea to our collective society. This is 100% sincere and I'm tired of what I've been seeing in society. This is my effort to make a change and raise awareness.

The turkey is good for the Thanksgiving day host and guests. Just figure out a way to not be the turkey. There's always a winner or loser, rarely everyone loses. Diversity is key.

What do you expect? A bunch of kool-aid drinkers? Good hackers have a healthy skepticism to most things. Sign of intelligent thinking to ask questions.
shortandsweet··on Tesla buys $1.5B in Bitcoin, may accept it as payment in the future
I can't tell if your post is sarcasm or not. Look at Apple, or any other large tech company. Hoarding billions in cash. Business lives to suck up any dollar possible and refuses to spend unless absolutely necessary because they are scared of risk or loss. They find their niche and that's it. Notice how there's no more research divisions in companies anymore? Like old school ATT.
