at this point I just assume it's a given that he's tweeting misleading information. it seems like he removes all attempts removing community notes on himself as well. I just don't think the lay person on twitter, which is dumber than a an average layperson, can learn these things in 1 graph or 200 chars.
AI art is theft, especially when created via text prompt. Drawings needs to drawn, paintings need to be painted etc. Art via prompt is 'find and take'.
bots, perpetual scams, enshittification, walled gardens, ai slop make me think things were better back in the day objectively content wise. no doubt the speed and general base tech has improved though
it's really not. the instant some insider starts selling the price will crash instantly dropping the price for other buyers. theres probably some momentum calculation when that happens but its not 25B
I'm pretty much full time on cursor from vscode. I don't trust it for big code blocks, but a control-k + reasonable command (I could have typed up myself) is saving me quite a bit of time.
all the "creative" gen ai does a thing worse and more annoying than what exists now. the first computers did calculations faster and faster with immediate utility (for defense mostly)
the offensive part is that it's creative theft by digesting other people's creative works then reworked and regurgitated. It's 'fine' when it's technical documentation and reference work, but that's not human expression.
I always wonder how it feels to be in one of the companies who compete against each other in the same domain. I think they funded 3 AI code editors as once, how do you know the others aren't getting preferential help
I was searching for a uniquely named company by exact name (think: verizon), and it was 80% of the way down the results page. Google knew exactly what I wanted to see and flooded my screen with alternatives who had paid them.
folks should just go to wholly owned websites like back in the day. on the other hand most major websites are absolutely unreadable with the ads/autoplay videos.
even the old ipod ads were about how much you could enjoy music with dancing and stuff. this batch of ads are just shortcuts in life, that really, you shouldn't be making in the first place.
the nobel prize has the best branding and name brand recognition pop culture wise. I'm sure winning all these others means nearly as much to those communities.
ive been using perplexity more and more too. I respect those attribution/citation bubbles they give (1) (2) etc and click to them to get to the source with low friction.
i also think that's why this story sorta went viral, it blended the worst aspects of AI in the tech popular culture by bragging about theft and saying dawg unironically
i really used to be wowed by their products and see their immediately utility like stripe and dropbox. now everyone is going founder mode, become an influencer type first and be a (mostl likely AI) guru people might want to follow
this says more about YC than this particular founder (lots of these types nowadays): i.e. their process, their due diligence, who is advanced from 1000's of applications.
yc is a club looking for members. A lot of the members share similar traits/backgrounds which is why there's sorta this "populist" backlash. It's not meritocracy for ideas or viability.
