shinryuu··on Ask HN: Any Software Engineers here who enjoy their AI-native dev workflow?
> take some of that productivity back for yourself.

Truer words hath not been spoken.

shinryuu··on How Claude marks AI-generated content
Though if pangram should be trusted, there are still statistical artifacts that tells you that a text LLM generated. I don't find that to be implausible.
shinryuu··on Progressive Web Components
When you built this you probably were aware of lit. How does Elena differ from lit?
shinryuu··on Ask HN: How to get in touch with Paddle (MoR)
No pro account needed (as far as I know). I've made connections without that.
shinryuu··on Ask HN: How to get in touch with Paddle (MoR)
Even if your linkedin network doesn't get you there, it's still possible to connect to people at paddle. https://www.linkedin.com/company/paddle/people/

Have you tried that? When connecting it's possible to leave a short note. There are a few with a support title, some account managers, and there's always the CEO themselves.

shinryuu··on Show HN: DeepSQL – A self-hostable DBA agent for Postgres and MySQL
not open source.
shinryuu··on Passkeys were invented by engineers with zero understanding of consumer brain
(small parenthesis, please consider to _not_ use lastpass given they have had so many security incidents https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LastPass#Security_incidents )
shinryuu··on GPT-5.6 used a prompt to close a 30-year gap in convex optimization
I also want better outcomes for people around the world.

Memes like the permanent underclass and the massive incentive of replacing workers across the world does not bode well for a better outcome for people across the world.

shinryuu··on GPT-5.6 used a prompt to close a 30-year gap in convex optimization
For whom is the question you should ask.

shinryuu··on Germany set to restrict its Freedom of Information Act
In what way do you think they are partial here?
shinryuu··on What will be left for us to work on?
Agree on this. Since we have this wonderful system called capitalism there are tendencies for, relatively speaking, a few human beings hoard / control most of the productive capacity and as such wealth.

Some may consider local LLMs to help with that as the power of LLMs would be more distributed. I think local LLMs would help marginally. Companies as an entity would still be better positioned to use these to their advantage vis a vis individuals.

So projecting into the future I still wonder if it won't become more challenging for individuals to make a living on average.

shinryuu··on Wealthy AI workers send San Francisco house prices soaring
Generally agree here. The other question / issue here. Would a consumption tax actually bring in an equal amount of revenue?

My intuition says no.

shinryuu··on Wealthy AI workers send San Francisco house prices soaring
The problem with consumption tax is that it's regressive. Poor(er) people are hit harder with such a tax.
shinryuu··on How the Terrorist Group Boko Haram Uses Frontier AI
Not sure if I should upvote because true, or down vote so that fewer terrorists see it.
shinryuu··on Ask HN: Burned Tokens scented candle ideas
I think this is the answer.
shinryuu··on Ask HN: Burned Tokens scented candle ideas
This is the way. Though I would say what does burnt GPU smell like? That's the smell of burnt tokens.
shinryuu··on Ask HN: Would you pay to discuss a book with an official AI clone of its author?
No
shinryuu··on 60% Fable cost cut by converting code to images and having the model OCR it
Interesting approach, though that readme really needs a rewrite by a human...
shinryuu··on The CEO of Mullvad is the main financer of the Swedish Örebro party
Well argued
shinryuu··on Ask HN: Mullvad Alternatives?
I'm happy with proton vpn.
shinryuu··on Show HN: Kage – Shadow any website to a single binary for offline viewing
Reminds me of this. https://gwern.net/gwtar

Compared to that is there anything kage does better?

shinryuu··on If you are asking for human attention, demonstrate human effort
Honestly, we should make a world that is enjoyable and productive for humans. Not relentlessly optimizing for agents.
shinryuu··on Ask HN: What coding agents are you using?
Doesn't the memory in letta become very expensive considering that LLMs are stateless (the context of the memory needs to be sent).
shinryuu··on Where is the AI jobs crisis?
As a fellow freelancer where do you see that you could survive this into the future?
shinryuu··on Changing how we develop Ladybird
That requires that you not only one-shot the thing. You will also not have the time to verify the solution yourself in that time period.

Besides 1h what used to to take 1 week is basically 40x given a workweek is 40h.

shinryuu··on Changing how we develop Ladybird
100x is achieving something in two days, what it took an entire year before. I strongly doubt that is happening for an individual.
shinryuu··on Software engineering may no longer be a lifetime career
Put it another way, the issue is that resources are not shared more equitably. This is especially egregious considering that LLMs are trained on all human knowledge. We've all been contributing to this enterprise, and what we may end up getting in return is unemployment.
