shimman··on Supabase is acquiring Turso
No, this is just sour grapes because you clearly disagree with people that don't adhere to your ideology. Thank fuck for that, people like you are why devs get burnt out.
shimman··on SvelteKit 3
Then why are you posting in a forum if you don't want opinions? You can shout in front of a mirror you know.
shimman··on Power approval set to delay Oracle's Wisconsin AI datacenter
As opposed to the previous times of being an Oracle customer where they cared about their users?
shimman··on Supabase is acquiring Turso
It's not odd at all if you understand the purpose of SQLite's governance model. Much better than letting VC + SV rat fuck everything for solitary monetary gain.
shimman··on Supabase is acquiring Turso
Because they wanted something like this story to happen. It's what VC does to open source, they aren't here to help or build communities they are here to make money. Nothing else matters.
shimman··on SvelteKit 3
I have only ever used react professional in my career and I have been sick of it since hooks were introduced. Easily the worst thing to come to the frontend world and has held it back for a solid decade.
shimman··on Micron CEO Says Memory Supply Will Be Much Tighter in 2027 and 2028 Than in 2026
Why is it bait? It's literally making the world worse were the gains only benefit an extremely small minority of people at the expense of everyone else.
shimman··on The last time my family was replaced by technology
That's my point. You are alone and your government doesn't care.
shimman··on The last time my family was replaced by technology
If you're going to do this at least take down a data center or something. Most new constructions aren't insured at all.
shimman··on The last time my family was replaced by technology
What are you talking about? We can actually track wealth inequality and it has not lowered at all within the last 50 years lol.

shimman··on Carnegie Mellon University Announces Historic $3B Gift from Ken Griffin
Are we suppose to feel good that more bright students are working for deeply undemocratic and anti-human companies? I'd rather these people do something more productive than helping financiers make slightly more billions of dollars.

What a complete waste of human capacity if so.

shimman··on The last time my family was replaced by technology
You retrain the same way that we told workers when we decimated the garment and manufacturing industries. You'll get the same amount of government support too.
shimman··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
I don't find it appropriate at all, especially regarding technology that workers deeply hate and are skeptical of.

If this is how you want to get people on your side, I can understand why the entire country/human race are against these companies.

shimman··on AI needs $6T in annual revenue to justify data centre boom
Agreed. The literal CEOs of these companies, and their acolytes, have been proudly proclaiming that you can replace all types of workers with AI. We know they have their anti-human sentiments but this is nothing new, as you said.
shimman··on AI needs $6T in annual revenue to justify data centre boom
Well look at how the US treats the bottom 10% of the country, that's potentially your future.
shimman··on AI needs $6T in annual revenue to justify data centre boom
You don't think enabling a mass surveillance state as a great thing?
shimman··on Does Reddit have an astroturfing problem? What the data suggests
I have no idea why people listen to this guy. It was obvious he was a grifter and has never worked a professional dev job in their life. I guess there are enough new people to sustain the dev slopfluencer, but man at least read a book or something first.
shimman··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
"You're holding it wrong." Is hardly a retort from a real paying customer having problems with their paid services.

This is why these companies are struggling to make money, they're chastising their customers just like they've been chastising the human race.

shimman··on OpenAI still doesn't seem to have a handle on all of its rogue AI activity
Ensure that other devs take ethics and safety more seriously when there is a risk of prison time.
shimman··on OpenAI still doesn't seem to have a handle on all of its rogue AI activity
Nah, I think it's better for our industry to put several of these devs in prison.

Seems only fair that tech workers get to have their life ruined with 2-3 year prison stints since they feel fine destroying society.

Any AG that starts prosecuting these people will easily win any political race they decide to enter. The environment is too good; voters, rightfully I'll add, despise big tech's leaders and workers.

shimman··on MongoDB CEO resigns to join Meta
Yeah, it's definitely this and not that Meta probably offered him a salary package that ensures generational wealth measured in centuries. Definitely the science fiction scenario, that is totally the realistic one and not a greedy wealthy CEO doing something that enables their greed.
shimman··on Unsealed Briefs in Authors’ Case v. Microsoft/OpenAI
Yeah and this is how they do that, intent matters and if this is the culture of the company then it makes it more heinous.
shimman··on Does Georgism work? Five years later
No, it's more like realizing that advocacy is the least effective form of politics but the easiest to engage in.
shimman··on Opus 5.5 is good at explainer videos
Ah yes, "the things will never improve if you help workers one iota" mantra. There's nothing else to say except you want workers to suffer and think progress is based on the amount of immiseration we inflict onto workers.

It's a sick anti-human ideology and it's not shocking when you look at how anti-human tech leaders truly are.

shimman··on Plan mode is dead
I think knowing which models use the standard library and which ones pull in dependencies as highly useful. As a dev I've always favored staying as close to the standard library as possible as it makes refactoring, understanding, and deletion much easier. Not everyone has the same preferences as you, it's nice to understand what matters for others too.
shimman··on Plan mode is dead
It's obscure to use common functions from the standard library?
shimman··on Revealing the details of how OpenAI agents hacked Hugging Face
It's not a joke, this is what these people truly believe. The new book by Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor discuss just this.

These people are sick and anti-human.

shimman··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
No, companies have routinely killed millions of Americans for profit. I do not trust companies at all. Attacking companies to provide for Americans has always benefited society as a whole and has always had vast majority of support from voters.

Also what private property? Most Americans can't afford to buy homes and are being priced out of owning property entirely.

Corporations have eroded the livelihood of Americans more than the government ever has.

There is only one class that fights against raising the minimum wage, or establishing a 32 hour workweek, or enacting medicare for all, or providing a society free of pollution and it's always been the corporate class.

There has been no dominating force that has killed more American civilians than the American corporation.

Corporations can't even regulate themselves and you're trying to argue that the true enemy is a democratic government? Come on man. These types of retorts does not convince voters (so please continue saying them). Actually go out there and do some deep canvassing.

People rightfully hate corporations because they are the last vestige of monarchs, oligarchies, and authoritarians that are allowed to ruin + destroy our lives with little repercussions.

One just has to look at the situation of our deteriorating food safety inspections (that were hallowed out by Musk + DOGE goons FYI) to know that corporations absolutely do not care about public safety over profits. Or health insurance companies that are incentivized to deny Americans life saving care for shareholder profits.

We have a sick society and it's mostly due to the unabashed influence of corporations over our lives.

---

Also in other comments you seem to be under the impression that corporations should be legally allowed to do what they want with zero government interference? Why do you believe such things over concepts of democracy or regulation?

Society is allowed to tell someone no, not everyone consents to your beleifs.

shimman··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
Yeah, for national security being the biggest one. Also Congress can do whatever they want if they desired. If Congress mandated that all social media companies have to become workplace democracies, that's totally fine and legal.

We've forgotten what it means to run a society, we're allowed to change rules how we see fit whenever we want to. Only the elites exercise this power, but people have it too.

shimman··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
What's to stop indeed? Some of us in the tech industry want the dems to slice and dice every tech company into irrelevance. They've betrayed society and they should be rightfully punished in fun + creative ways.
