shimi··on Google Wave - First Impressions
The change the Wave brings the enabling pull push over http, currently pull works well but push (from the server to the client)is more complicated.
shimi··on Introducing the Google Chrome OS
I don't see the point, Android is using a Chrome version, so if you'll take Android remove Dalvik then you're getting a new OS?

By that definition I can remove all my apps from my Vista laptop except the browser and what do I get, an IE OS?

That's silly!!!

shimi··on Why free software shouldn't depend on Mono or C#
The negativity in this article isn't necessary. I like C# I would want to say that the more Linux / Unix C# code will be written maybe and just maybe it will get MS to write an open source .NET framework not just for windows. That's the words I want to read
shimi··on Apple’s WWDC-Closing ‘Fuck You’ to iPhone Developers
Doesn't matter which product,
shimi··on Apple’s WWDC-Closing ‘Fuck You’ to iPhone Developers
If MS would have enforce such a strict policy on Windows, imagine how many stability and security issues would have been solved in an instance.

But this is just a pipe dream, there is no way MS would be let to get away with such practices, on the other hand Apple are well with in their right to do so.

shimi··on [dead]
If MS won't support PHP than they are big bad boy of the IT world, if they do they are wrong again???

If you bag MS please make it worth while...

shimi··on Why the iPhone is revolutionary: 'Leaf Trombone' edition
I remember hearing in a morning radio show people are saying that the iPhone is the best thing ever because it can play and record farts.

From a market point of view it is revolutionary but not from the technical side.

shimi··on We Are Morons: a quick look at the Win2k source (2004)
I couldn't stand The undocumented Windows API scene. It gave me such a hard time. I find it amusing that the MS guys had to deal with that!!!!
shimi··on Aussie inventor in $388m Microsoft damages win
"worthless Australian dollars" That's not cool mate
shimi··on Why we don't develop for platforms other than iPhone
Apple went into the Mobile Market business only because they knew that its standing still.

The gaming market is soldiering proudly!!!

shimi··on Did Arrington actually pull off the CrunchPad WiFi tablet?
What's the difference between that and a Windows Tablet (apart from the price)?
shimi··on Paul Graham revisits "Microsoft is Dead"
If you build a web app you must test it on IE, WM is the third biggest mobile OS for smartphones, and that's before desktops.

Sorry PG I can't agree with you on this account.

shimi··on IPhone Accounts For 50 Percent Of U.S. Mobile Web Traffic; Android At 5 Percent
The article says that Android holds 5% of the total of the smartphones market, and iPhone accounts for 50% of the web traffic, but doesn't state its market share.

The title require some adjustment.

shimi··on Interview with the man who built Google's V8 engine from scratch
I liked the part about long hours, in my experience the long hours crowed are only wasting time.

You come to work, you code, you leave that's as simple as that!

shimi··on Australian Government adds Wikileaks to banned website list; $11k/day fine for linking
With all the stuff that happens in Aus there are far more important things to sort,

When Peter Garrett sang Bad On Fire there where lots of voices who called to censor him, I guess the wheel turned...

shimi··on iPhone OS 3.0 is coming, preview on March 17th
How can you evaluate an SDK? Compare it to a different SDK that provides a similar solution.

HackerNews is filled with such debates, like Java Vs. Python, Tables Vs. CSS...

The features above were part of the Andoird SDK beta, Background processes have been around for few years in other mobile platforms, I can get excited if Apple will come out with a killer features that are unique to their platofrom (e.g. Bonjure is a unique feature)

shimi··on iPhone OS 3.0 is coming, preview on March 17th
except for iTunes, all the requested features are already part of the Android SDK
shimi··on GW-Basic creator Greg Whitten on Joel Spolsky and other MS things
I was so happy that Microsoft moved from OLE - COM to the .NET
shimi··on Why I Sued Google (and Won)
I don't care who the guy is. A contract termination needs to come with a reason, a termination without reason is bullying. 700$ is enough money to make an effort and go to court to settle the sidpute.

What I find it hard to believe is that Google couldn't come up with a reason, I just can't believe they are so incompetent!! Something just doesn't add up...

shimi··on Startup Founded by Apple Vets Aims to Develop Business Apps for iPhone
I wish them luck, but I can't see the point. Blackberry is the phone for businesses, maybe I'm missing something
shimi··on Google introduces Loopt competitor
That's was the reason why google shutdown Dodgeball!

There were lot of other start ups with similar services that are going to struggle due to this service. .

shimi··on With an official description, Google Drive is more real than ever
DropBox are excellent. But I'll move to Google the moment they will provide the service because I'm using Android (Assuming that an Android client will be coming out)
shimi··on Some things need to change
I don't like TechCrunch, and I don't like Michael Arrington. I can write a book on why, but this is not place.

Death threats and spitting are way over the top!!! It's a shameful behaviour that needs to be outcast. TechCrunch help lots of businesses and in the process killed some. That's life, suck it mate!!!

shimi··on Open source Mono framework brings C# to iPhone and Wii
C# is my favourite language, its just right...

Mono garbage collection isn't perfect, on mobile devices this could be fatal. It sounds like the Mono boys are trying to find some fame.

shimi··on Google Web Drive in the works?
Would be nice to sync mp3 with Android. I'm amazed no one already took the effort in doing so
shimi··on Ask HN: Is anyone doing Blackberry app development?
I have to disagree about the Java part.

After developing for WM, j2ME, BB and Android I found iPhone is a mystery. Apple knew what they were doing making people downloading those applications. You've have got fart apps for all platforms and no one could turn them to a profit until iFart.

BB is a different market, I'm sure that if you'll investigate you'll be able to come up with an idea.

BB can be a potential good market but

shimi··on The iPhone Could Be The Ultimate Study Machine
Why only the iPhone is mentioned? What about Rim, Android and even MS? Nokia actually added a category in their latest challenge for e-learning system they should be included too...

I was involved in such an attempt to break that market and it wasn't easy. Its like the social mobile applications. everyone are saying that its a billion dollar market but no one got a clue how to generate good cash out of it.

shimi··on Developer who has used the Palm pré Mojo SDK speaks out on Ars Technica
This got my curiosity, the mobile space is going to buzz in next coming months!
shimi··on Palm's Pre smarthpone vs. Apple's iPhone 3G
In my view this is actually good for developers, the more that the technology will be fragmented the more work we will have.
shimi··on Dalvik vs Mono
Design patterns are the same across all engineering disciplines.

Mono was designed to port the .NET to other platforms
