We had strong masking protocols here, and some periods with schools closed. I'm assuming it's just a matter of us "catching up" on three years of colds/flu.
Anecdotally, if feels like everyone is getting sick. It's not great.
When paired with a windows PC or older Mac, Airpods use an older or lower quality audio codec that sounds pretty poor for those hearing you speak.
Caveat: I don't know what I'm talking about, technically.
It appears this is the same version (the page says "Homebrew now installs Meld for OSX").
The macOS integration is a bit klunky (really feels like a non-native app), but this remains my preferred visual diff app. Thanks to those who make it and maintain the macOS port.
(I realize that video-phones are kind of widely adopted now via Zoom/Facetime/etc. - I'm thinking more of the vision from the 90s of a telephone with a screen in your kitchen)
You can subscribe via email (no thanks), and I realize there are some good ways to turn an email subscription into a feed (Feedbin.com handles this nicely). Still, I thought some public shaming here might encourage the to build this basic blog feature (that would help people follow their company!).
The timeline might undermine my assumption.
I'd give it a 3/5 - fun read, not a classic.
The live-stream also included a short video from the rover. I expect that will be posted any minute now.
While I liked the overview on the home page, it took me a bit to find the actual CSS. A kind of 'component library' demo page (like the https://coolcss.dev/kitchen-sink/, but with the CSS class info displayed rather than using the dev-tools to explore) would be nice.
For now, just digging through this dir will give you a good idea of what's here: https://github.com/peruvianidol/coolcss/tree/main/_src/sass
Also, I can't decide if have the "oo" in "cool" stand for "Utility" is genius or madness.
It has two down-sides:
1. Muting the mic involves touching/moving the mic, so you make some noise when trying to discretely mute/unmute.
2. It mutes, but doesn't tell Zoom that it's muted, so you can appear to be unmuted to others on the call. I'd rather die than be falsely accused of having a dog bark interrupt a call from MY mic!
(I know there are a few do-it-yourself options for these, but I'd much rather throw a bit of money at it rather than time).
Interface variations have a cost as a complexity multiplier, adding another variation to consider and test when making improvements and testing.
Obviously, this is a broad oversimplification, but I do think the way we manage our kids time and limit their freedom is problematic.
That said, I think many of the problems stem from good intentions and unintended consequences. For example:
1. We don't want our kids to get hit by a car, so we tell them only to play in the back yard. 2. In many homes, both parents want a fulfilling career, so most kids are in some kind of child-care after school, so our kids don't have others to play with in the neighbourood.
My concern with this approach is that it relies on us to be self-aware of our idiosyncrasies and limitations. There are aspects of myself that I do think I understand well and could be well communicated with the tool like this, but I suspect that I might be blind to the more problematic aspects of my own personality, and that this lack of self-awareness exacerbates or is that the root of the problem.
CSS Scroll Snap?
Nicely done.
