serenloss··on Ask HN: Why does a busy man build a shed?
Life is like a musical piece. If it were all about getting to the destination, then the best composers would be those with the fastest songs. Play is about the journey, rather than the result.

In this sense, shed-building is somewhere between work and play. The act is enjoyed roughly as much as the product.

serenloss··on One drive and Google Drive are a hopeless mess
If you use google or apple photos, they both have visual analysis features. Searching “tattoo”, for example, in my apple photos brings up all the photos of tattoos in my library. Then, you could maybe select all the matches and export to different folders, run further actions, etc. Whatever you need to do to them from there.

serenloss··on Is GitHub Copilot a blessing, or a curse?
This seems like a gross simplification. We want factorable code because that helps with DRY. DRY code is more portable and the end product is smaller in size. Also, there's performance considerations. I'll be surprised if there's a tool like copilot anytime soon that can identify need for memoization, for example, and implement it.

I think one could make a strong argument that Stalin always knowingly acted in the best interest of Stalin.

Choosing not to act is choosing nonetheless. You are responsible in both situations. You didn’t set the events into motion, no — but you had full awareness of the inevitable consequences that would result from acting or not. You must make the choice, therefore, that you can live with. This is the nature of the human experience.

While no less arbitrary, your metric for comparison seems shallow. I had already decided the panda should die before you finished that question, not the other way around.

The panda won’t be missed by many.

What an odd way to respond. Manufactured in what way? Gold’s value is no more manufactured than that of ice cream. It has no bearing on the comparison.
