sentimentscan··on My solopreneur story
I feel the same. I really hate writing all those articles, posts, writing to people to get mostly rejected/ignored. But then again I grind it out
sentimentscan··on It's okay to make something nobody wants
I thought that this is something that wasn't done before (analysing google comments with ChatGPT) and that would be amazing. https://sentimentscanner.com Simple as that and market will verify.

Also it is nice to develop 5-10 times quicker then in scrum/jira ticket driven development. I couldn't believe that in Saturday I can do more then 1-2 weeks in my job. I of course understand that this doesn't scale to team, but yeah it is nice to feel that you can write good code so fast as a rockstar developer

sentimentscan··on It's okay to make something nobody wants
Nothing is worse then when you care, and apparently all the code written/test/work done 3 months by team goes straight to the trash, no explanation. Simply some exec in this large thought that it should go to trash, couldn't even give me a reason. I quickly quit after that.
sentimentscan··on Open source AI will win
>your primary goal is getting off of OpenAI as soon as you possibly can

I have calculated that LLAMA running model on AWS/CLOUD, even vast.ai with 3090 is much more expensive then openai. Even with collocation 3090 as they charge absurd amount of money for power (hardware free)

Only case that this is cheaper few times, is if I would host it in my house as I have fiber, and not that expensive power.

sentimentscan··on Open source AI will win
Yeah, but it sill isn't your money, even with 100mil of valuation/investment you are rich on paper, but until you move your ponzi/AI magic to other investor/IPO, you don't have much.
sentimentscan··on Open source AI will win
Yes, but then Lama from FB/meta has provided pretty good base for (open source like LLM)
sentimentscan··on Valve is a wonderful upstream contributor to Linux and the open-source community
even with proton?
sentimentscan··on Meat, milk alternatives could slash food system emissions a third: study
I much more prefer the tempeh to meat. (I have cut back only ti social occasions as I am a little bit addicted to taste/climate) I would to have more alternatives that are not trying to mimic meat/cheese, but traditional things or creative ones like tempeh/tofu/kimchi/all fermented.

Similarly instead of vegan burger/falafel there are amazing traditional cuisine like Shojin Ryori (vegan japanease cuisine)

sentimentscan··on MGM losing up to $8.4M a day due to cyberattack, analyist says
It seems like a bug/wrong infra, nothing that mainframe could fix. >it's not good enough for Visa or Amex, it's not good enough for a gambling operation. We have multicloud/kubernetes
sentimentscan··on Web apps are better than no apps
There are benchmarks/cases were JS is faster then C++ Yes obliviously C++ is faster then JS, but complexity/time of programmer may cause you to write slower code then v8/JIT. I can't sadly find a link for that benchmark
sentimentscan··on I built Excel for Uber and they ditched it
Do you have any portfolio of those castles? I am quite interested in the long future for maybe building one
sentimentscan··on Ask HN: What is the one thing you would change about documentation?
I would like to sort it by how common this issue is, so I don't look for the top of documention for edge cases or very old/rare issues.
sentimentscan··on Americas richest 10% is responsible for 40% of its planet heating pollution
Why taxing things that are causing harm to people is considered totalitarian?
sentimentscan··on Americas richest 10% is responsible for 40% of its planet heating pollution
Cleaning pollution is hard, carbon capture is insanely expensive. We could take this take money and instead of storing that carbon (as other comments suggest) we could further the transformation of grid from fossil fuels to green energy, R&D and to make impact more meaningful provide "carbon tax" to developing countries to ditch fossil fuel as so on.
sentimentscan··on What Silicon Valley “gets” about software engineers
At (traditional) this is causing me to develop feature and then throw it again and then implement it again slightly differently because someone said something in the chain without thinking and sometimes to fight with management teams for doing something insane. And in one case why throwed out 3,5 months of development work, because some exec was mistaken.

But at (SV startup company) this caused at least for my team complete chaos, what should we do, who should be doing the integration, talking to customers, why are we doing this.

Usually at SV startup company I was like 2-4 times more productive, but often output of my work wasn't really significant, as in traditional company so small dumb feature was raking in money and really improved large customer base.

sentimentscan··on Show HN: Hello Inbox – Free email deliverability checklist for marketers
I absolutely hate this when they require you to login to turn off unsolicited mail. It is strange that there are no laws to it

Still not available in EU, as they will not allow to use email instead of instagram accounts [1] 1. https://www.theverge.com/23789754/threads-meta-twitter-eu-dm...
sentimentscan··on Ask HN: One-person startups/SaaS that are profitable?
That's nice that you can succeed without social media, as I absolutely hate fb/x/whatever and that yo can do that without trying to pitch your every article in them.

>jquery

Nice, I almost forgot about it, however for after a few months. Jquery always resulted in huge mess with one insanely long file
