sensen··on Kids turned low-traffic NPR Spotify comments into a secret group chat
This is the first thing that came to mind. I remember how frustrated I was when they started cracking down on this behavior.
sensen··on Dwarf Fortress is getting the mother of all magic updates
Has anything changed where the original version of the game no longer receives updates? I understood that the whole reason for the initial release of the steam version was to get more people exposed to the game and to allow the creators to actually start making money from their efforts.

If anything, I would recommend purchasing the steam version to support the creators. Continue to play the game any way that you like afterward.

sensen··on After Town Bans Flock, Councilmember Crashes Out, Proposes Internet, Phone Ban
Honestly, there are ways to advocate for better digital privacy without the need to entirely dismantle modern day life.. Arguments like this are counterproductive and are made in bad faith, suggesting that privacy is an all or nothing approach.

Comparing Flowers' total ban on all technology to "A Modest proposal" is incredibly troublesome. His argument seems to be designed to show that privacy is impossible and that government overreach is inevitable and reasonable. He's not challenging existing power structures in any way, but aims to legitimize it. "Crash out" might not be the best term, but I think it helps to emphasize how unreasonable his position is in this matter.

sensen··on Colibri – chat platform built on the AT Protocol for communities big and small
This looks neat, but should I be concerned about the permissions this is requesting for my account? Bluesky: Manage your profile, posts, likes and follows
sensen··on The Waymo Ojai Will Soon Offer Autonomous Rides Around the U.S.
That sounds reasonable enough. If we can do this in areas that are less likely to suffer inclement weather, does it not make sense to realize the benefit?
sensen··on Fast Lua runtime written in Rust
I don't see any reference to `0xiDizEd` in the docs or on github. Are you sure that you're discussing the right project?
sensen··on Zed is our office
Does a `Co-authored-by:` trailer in the commit message not resolve this issue?
sensen··on Walmart U.S. moves to eliminate synthetic dyes across all private brand foods
> We won’t see the full effect of his efforts until years down the road.

What are the expected outcomes of this change? What are the efforts that are driving this? The linked article cites consumer preferences as a primary driver for removing synthetic dyes, not any FDA regulations enforcing their removal.

sensen··on Walmart U.S. moves to eliminate synthetic dyes across all private brand foods
Can you clearly state what that reason is? The only reason stated in the article is that this move "is in line with evolving customer preferences and in support of a more transparent food system".
sensen··on As Android developer verification gets ready to go, a new reason to be worried
There's a part of me that wishes Firefox OS remained viable and overcame its problems where it could've become a viable alternative. I'm hopeful for the future of Linux phones, but I've yet to see a product that looks like it's reliable and works well..
sensen··on Waymo granted permit to begin testing in New York City
I can't help but think about the failures of basic human-oriented infrastructure when I can't safely ride my bike to the grocery store 2 miles from my home. I don't know what it'll take to change this in our cities, and it feels like an uphill battle when seemingly very few people care about problems like these.
sensen··on I want an iPhone Mini-sized Android phone (2022)
The thickness of the phone honestly isn't an issue at all. The phone is so small that it remains easily pocketable.
sensen··on I want an iPhone Mini-sized Android phone (2022)
The Jelly Max looks really tempting, but I'm a little apprehensive after running the Jelly Star for a while and dealing with constant dropped calls and bad call quality all around.
sensen··on NeuralOS: An operating system powered by neural networks
I opened the terminal and typed `which bash`. This was interpreted as `ls`.. It's a very fun demo, but the utility of disregarding my input and trying to guess what I wanted to type is very questionable.
sensen··on How I got 100% off my train travel
I commuted via train for years when I lived in Chicago and a refund policy like Italy's definitely would've been amazing. Perhaps the trains would be more reliable with refunds, all we received was a late slip when the train was delayed by 2 hours..
sensen··on Functional Programming Self-Affirmations
Do you have an example of the many books and established blogs that you can share? A newcomer might not be familiar with where to start when attempting to learn more about functional programming.
sensen··on Ask HN: What abandoned OSS project would you like to see revived?
It breaks my heart to see that the last blog post is from July 17, 1017 along with all the stagnant information on the community page. I had some hopes that momentum would develop after the project transferred to community governance.
sensen··on Apple launches coding camps for kids in its retail stores
No, but I'd imagine that they would expect a competent instructor to be leading the class.
