sebastianhoitz··on OpenLLaMA: An Open Reproduction of LLaMA
I had the same issue and then noticed that I need git lfs - otherwise just cloning the repo will not download the weights.
sebastianhoitz··on Sorry everybody, I failed with you
Totally agree! That's why I want to help open source maintainers monetize the ecosystem they have built. The first step: Sell add-on products/plugins/tools with a super easy Checkout paywall: https://basetools.io
sebastianhoitz··on Improved Vim Setup in Visual Studio Code
I've been using VS Code for most of my software development lately. However, there were always some issues where the Vim integration did not allow keyboard navigation everywhere. This is a list of settings I collected to allow a deeper integration.
sebastianhoitz··on Vim Colors
My personal favorite is the railscasts theme. Wide support for iTerm and other applications aswell.
sebastianhoitz··on Typing Practice for Programmers
This doesn't seem to work with keyboard layouts that are different than US keyboards.

My german keyboard didn't work :(

sebastianhoitz··on ShareJS – Live concurrent editing in your app
Well, that's not necessarilty true.

Maybe for editing a textarea with rich formatting.

But ShareJS supports much more than that. You can sync custom objects etc. Look at their examples!

sebastianhoitz··on TakeThisLollipop - really clever/creepy use of the Facebook API
There was something similar with "Notruf Deutschland": http://www.notruf-deutschland.com/teaser/

They had a similar "approach" :)

Still, very nicely done!

sebastianhoitz··on Show HN: One-Stop inbox for customer communication.
Thanks for your feedback! This are some very good points you make. We will definitely add a diagram like that to our page.

Regarding your questions: We take the pain away of managing all these different channels. All the incoming messages are stored in suplify and you and your colleagues can reply right there. And you can see what your colleagues wrote.

sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: who launched something in July?
http://suplify.me Helps your company organize communication with your customers over email, Facebook and Twitter. Launched to public beta :)

sebastianhoitz··on LikeALittle's Ridiculous Hacker House
I love this startups attitude. Awesome!
sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: What answers do I have to know for a VC interview?
All great questions! Thanks for your answer! :)
sebastianhoitz··on What do you think is the most beautiful algorithm?
I really like AVL trees (or balanced trees) and the way they are restructured.
sebastianhoitz··on [dead]
In Chrome, when you hover over the pins at the outer side of your browser, you can't read the whole text in the box.

Besides that: Beautiful :)

sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: my website seemingly sucks, but I'm not sure why?
It all starts with the heading:

The font makes it really hard to read. I actually have to concentrate to find out what is written in the heading.

And honestly, I wanted to stop reading after the first paragraph:

An ad hoc (ok?) perpetually (uhm...) published online journal of publication-worthy (oh dear...) essays written by a global community of (egotistical) (omg...) undergraduate International Relations students (wtf..) to act as a platform for the dissemination of and discourse on (what?!) ...

I mean, the writing is good. But not for web pages. And especially not for the first paragraph. There are so many foreign words in this, that it seems like you just tried to link as many words together as you can.

Simplify this first paragraph! Make it less "complex".

Also the paper listings all look the same. The image caught my attention at first, but then I realized that every paper has that image. Why is it so big, then, if I can't use it do distinguish the papers?

There is also nowhere mentioned what benefits I get when registering.

The site does look pretty simple, but I think this is too simple. There should be at least some structuring elements and something to make the papers more appealing.

Besides that it is an interesting idea though. After reading the topics they quite caught my attention :)

sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: Best place to get a demo video made?
I really like the Epiphanies by Epipheo Studios: http://www.epipheostudios.com/

Not sure how much they cost, though.

sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: Review my startup, sharedstatus.com
I really like the website. There could be a bit more eye-catching elements on the front page, but besides that everything looks really clean.

But I have to agree - you should definately put up a section "What makes us different". When I was browsing around on your webpage all I thought was "What makes this different to Basecamp??"

So you don't necessarily make a comparison page, but highlight what you do better with your product than other project management software.

sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: Review Labels.io
The LinkedIn URL here has no target: http://labels.io/mediademo

As far as I can tell it is a nice way of trying to find employees by matching them. I have not tried your system yet, but if it works like that it does sound interesting.

However there is a lot of competition in that space, so unless you have a real driving force behind marketing or really good reasons for companies to use your service it will be pretty tough.

Also do you support "Web presences" like stackoverflow? I can imagine that developers want to use that as resumes, too.

sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: Review my startup suplify.me
I went for the quick fix with fewer opacity for now. Will look into restructuring the screenshots into a row later.

Thanks for your feedback! Glad you like the website :)

sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: Which YC startups have launched before joining YC?
As far as I know rapportive also already launched. They did just write a blog post on that: http://martin.kleppmann.com/2010/12/21/having-a-launched-pro...
sebastianhoitz··on Ask HN: Review my startup suplify.me
Thanks for your feedback!

I will experiment with moving the screenshots away from the sidebar and make it a normal row in the content. This should make it more easy to see + read the features.

We will think of what we can do to the CTA. I guess its that we have a lot of green in other parts on the homepage, and the green background does not make it stand out.

Thanks again for your feedback!

sebastianhoitz··on [dead]
Awesome! I love this!

Very funny lyrics and some nicely put background information on the characters!

Lots of people jumping on the Google Instant train...

Anyways, towards your iTunes instant: Why not offer the possibility to preview songs from your web app? You get the preview URL via the API!
