sebastiangula··on Claude Opus 5
Maybe we’re desensitized because all that progress hasn’t made our lives any more meaningful, happier, or even easier.
sebastiangula··on Privacy Pass Authentication for Kagi Search
I can't explain this rationally, but my brain just rejects any other search engine. For example, in the case of Kagi, black links instead of blue feel off-putting. I guess years of using Google has hardwired into my brain how a search engine should look.
sebastiangula··on Ozempic maker defends high U.S. price: It's 'helping' reduce the cost of obesity
Unfortunately, Metformin gives me a brain fog that isn’t acceptable while having an engineering role. Maybe it has an interaction with Vortioxetine, I don’t know.
sebastiangula··on Cousins are disappearing. Is this reshaping the experience of childhood?
People nowadays focus on career till 30 and after 30 (when you loose that naive optimistic outlook on life) realize that having kids is too much of a risky obligation - you don't have any guarantee that you will remain healthy enough to sustain family till they grow up and that your kids will be born healthy. Also, life has gotten quite expensive.

sebastiangula··on Companies embracing SMS for account logins should be blamed for SIM-swap attacks
EU is supposed to get a unified digital identity wallet. There’s already a qualified digital signature. My country’s ID has a chip with public key cryptography. Just let me permanently tie my Google account to my national identity and then the problem will solved (at least for EU residents). I’ll be able to just use one just YubiKey without stress of losing it and I’ll be able to get my account back if someone steals it.
sebastiangula··on How to do things if you're not that smart and don't have any talent
Physical dependence and addiction is a very different thing. If you’re physically dependent then you’ll just plan accordingly (taper if necessary) and ride it out, but if you’re addicted then you won’t be capable of doing that and 90% (or more) of the attempts will fail because of the behavioral overrides. This can turn something that could be tapered in couple months into multi-year struggle. I’ve learned this the hard way.
sebastiangula··on Laion Took Down Its Datasets After Discovery of Child Sexual Abuse Material
0.55ppm is low but you can still be prosecuted if that contamination is found on your drive.
sebastiangula··on Exploitive, illegal photos of children found in the data that trains some AI
If you are attempting to index the whole internet then you are doomed to eventually download something illegal.
sebastiangula··on Lithium-ion battery pack prices hit record low
I wouldn’t want to power home out of ordinary lithium - e-scooter explosions are already disastrous. There’s LiFePO4 but it’s more expensive.
sebastiangula··on Poland's Most Famous Dish: Pierogi
Haven’t heard about the rolled edges but fried ones are just perfect with sourcream.
sebastiangula··on Semaglutide treatment associated with high reduction in Alcohol Use Disorder
In EU we consider 300$ a month for a drug expensive.
sebastiangula··on Artists have forgotten how to draw
I wouldn’t call photo-copying an art. Art is creative. Copying isn’t.
