seam_carver··on Tachiyomi – It's Joever
Which apps? Maybe KOREADER, eInkBro, Infinity for reddit? On iOS side I love Overcast for podcasts.
seam_carver··on Tachiyomi – It's Joever
Man all my favorite Android apps are getting sniped. First Infinity for Reddit, now Tachiyomi. These apps are important since official apps don't have e ink optimizations (aka disable animations).

The original iOS release is widely regarded to be the worst version of ace attorney, they have a remaster for iOS now released recently.
seam_carver··on Steam now allows you to copy games over a local network to another PC
Perfect! I have relatively slow internet and multiple PCs that I install games too. Way easier than making backup files and copying to USB.
seam_carver··on Popcorn Time Is Back
Yes, a great app, it does OCR on subtitles that are stored as images and converts to a Chromecast compatible text format so it is incredibly powerful.
seam_carver··on macOS 12.3 solves 2019 MacBook Pro 16“ overheating issue with external monitors
I was using HDMI, don't think it's related.
seam_carver··on macOS 12.3 solves 2019 MacBook Pro 16“ overheating issue with external monitors
Yup! Took them long enough, after everyone already gave up and replaced them with M1!

Also, if you have this issue with an external GPU, something else is going on, since in that case the GPU inside the Mac isn't being used and generating heat.

And no, haven't had that kind of extreme issue. Maybe you have dust?

seam_carver··on Did Windows 10 slow down with each feature update?
I replaced my laptop with HDD with SSD and Win10 is usable again. Did the same with my 2011 Desktop.
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
OP here: had no issues with sleep or wake. Using Apple HDMI adapter.
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
Random thought, when I used the official Apple HDMI adapter, I had no issues. When I used a third party USB-C-DP cable, I had random crashes, especially when turning on or waking from sleep.

Sorry, removed paywall. Didn't realize it was default.
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
Turned off paywall, sorry! Didn't realize that it was the default!
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
TLDR: My Macbook Pro is hot and noisy when connected to a 2560x1440p60 monitor, even when the lid is closed at idle. This article outlines a partial solution that enables silent operation at idle when the lid is closed.

Sorry, didn't realize paywall was default option: https://axu2.medium.com/solved-by-1440p-hidpi-macbook-pro-16...

seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
I was kind of hoping people would be commenting "Wow this fixed my issue" but I guess very few people have 2560x1440p60 monitors...
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
I'm starting to think it's specific to 1440p60
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
Added a note that I was drawing 20W even when lid was closed. Thanks for feedback.
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
I took fullscreen screenshots to get the statistics, then cropped via another screenshot. The first one was 2560x1440. The 2nd one was 5220x2880. So noticeably sharper.
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
Why only 30 Hz? I hear 60 Hz solves a different class of issues.
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
That's unfortunate, but does 1 monitor/lid closing make a difference?
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
Thank you for your feedback. You aren't the only one who commented something like this, so I added a TLDR at the top of the article.

Yea, was just a joke.
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
Probably just very few people have 1440p monitors I guess.
seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
Well the MacBook is silent even when the dGPU is on if it's rendering at 1440p HiDPI for me. Hot and noisy at normal 1440p.

seam_carver··on Solved by 1440p HiDPI: MacBook Pro 16“ is hot and noisy with an external monitor
This might be relevant. I took fullscreen screenshots. The first one was 2560x1440. The second one was 5120x2880.
