"...building a net worth of more than $2 billion..." - congrats Drew and team! For all the critics, from day 1, the founders are billionaires / early employees at least in the 10s if not 100s of millions -- and so much value created for people syncing files around the world -- while hackers are still saying "...but rsync"

Yes, the story was something like Google hadn’t rebuilt their index for something like 8 months if I recall correctly

Does anyone else remember the Mac app “gravitation” that did this? Brings back memories

Check out https://mynucleus.com -- we do whole-genome DNA sequencing from a cheek swab for about $500 (use code savraj10 for 10% off), so no blood drawn as in this example. We also give you your risks for over 2k diseases and, if your partner does the test, predict outcomes for your future kids. Alexis is one of our investors and we have a big announcement coming next week! We also allow download of all raw data and are SOC2 + HIPAA compliant.

Game genie was only on regular Nintendo. Those other modes on goldeneye were an Easter egg built into the game, iirc

SEVAK13,,"SEVAK = SERVANT, 13 = THERA = YOUR, IN PUNJABI THIS MEANS ""GOD, I AM YOUR SERVANT.""","13, GANG REFERENCE",N

Yes, Sevak is servant and the number 13 in Punjabi is "tera" which also means "yours".

Unfortunately in California the number 13 is a GANG REFERENCE. lol. Probably a free-speech argument to be made here?

As far as I can tell, no money goes to improving transit between New Jersey and New York

I have had this exact same idea, it’s a good one. We all hate ads, and muting the audio is all we really need!

I can’t believe the New York City subway does not have this technology. We are currently breathing brake dust in the subway.

A key purpose for langar was to challenge the prevailing caste system — people of all castes would be equalized by sitting together and sharing a community meal, a revolutionary concept.

Zoom has this as a built-in feature -- you can share just a region you specify of your whole display. Share screen -> advanced -> "portion of screen"

Is it possible to rent a well maintained hi8 8mm player and digitize old videos?

Free feature idea: - Tesla needs a public facing website that allows anyone to request a video for a cost — any location at any point in time - vehicle owners can review video footage and approve request - vehicle owner gets a cut, Tesla gets a cut, authority or person in fender bender or whatever gets video

If you’re willing to write all of this in a hacker news post, it’s clear that you take this very seriously, and it weighs heavily on your mind. Based on what you said, it’s also clear you must let this person go, but be helpful in finding them an opportunity that matches their skill level. Easier said than done!

that worked right out of the gate, wow. thanks!

This is exactly it, thanks!

This is my favorite toolset -- pyenv and pyenv-virtualenv! So good. Such a great system imo. This is my preferred path through the forest of options here. :)

my amazon acct has my first order from 1998...

what about the NYC subway / PATH train? The air quality there is pretty bad -- the trains use standard brakes.

Dustidentity.com has been around for a while and is something similar -- but there is no “tag” - it’s invisible. Diamond nanoparticles!

I once made an app like this that was similarly simple - but the app store blocked it saying it was "too simple" -- this was many years ago, and I think they've obviously relaxed those standards, but it was very, very frustrating. I even got someone on the phone to tell me that the app was too trivial to be on the app store. Geez.

Great app! Pls add Punjabi
