I really admire that. There is stigma attached to second-hand clothes, at least in India. If you can afford it, it is almost unacceptable to wear second hand clothes, especially outside family and friends.
My job requires me to travel to US (from India) almost every six months. On most weekends I just buy clothes for my family. It is interesting that half of those clothes are usually made in South Asia, but are cheaper and better in the US.
Absolutely. So based on what I know their financial products and customer service is awesome but I doubt if it comes at a price which is lower than the market (even after considering what they give back to its members).
The fact that Facebook walls are visible to everyone, any controversial topic usually gets reaction from both sides. Whatsapp groups are formed based on likemindedness (I am excluding core family and friends). I call these groups echo-pipes which silently form a larger echo chamber.
English is my second language, and I do same mistakes with “a”, “an” and “the”. Though I try to stay grammatically correct, I often get corrected by my daughter, who is more exposed to English than I was at her age. I am sure someone can point a mistake or two, in two lines that I just wrote.
Ripple coin can [potentially] provide single currency for banks operating across the globe, if it is able to get wider acceptance and ensure low volatility. I too have my doubts but this[1] post explains it well.
> Additionally a lot of YC-type people benefit by the current VC system and funding via ICO’s or similar mechanisms is anethema to what they have constructed.
I would have agreed with you to a certain degree if this post was just about BTC. OP asked about crypto-market, and BTC can’t represent all of it even if it has the lion share. Your response paints everything as Ponzi scheme (or that’s how interpreted it) which is unfair to serious projects.
I tried cointracking.info a couple of months back and figured that it would take some time for it to stablize. With different exhanges using different formats, and no support for all exchanges (at least the ones I am using), it is tough to tally. I finally used their export as basis and built my own excel sheet. I don’t think I have it all figured but I am happy with what I have. Now whenever I make any transaction, I add entries to my sheet.
Why would that not include bitcoin, given that there are technically better alt-coins than bitcoin? I am just curious because I have seen similar analogies elsewhere.
> I have this theory that they've noticed that the platform is being used less and less
I have no data to substantiate but I doubt if it is true. May be in first world but coming from India, I believe there is still a huge market for Facebook. Internet literally means WhatsApp and Facebook to masses who are now getting affordable mobile phone and data connectivity.
Bubble or not, one obvious difference with cryptocurrencies is, it is not limited to a geography or a country. I hesitate to use the term “insurance” but the risk is spread across the globe. That plus the freedom to get into it (and leave) anytime makes it unique in a way.
Plus good content invites new customers. Netflix has expanded to pretty much entire world now (China is the only major market with no Netflix). From my experience in India, they are investing heavily on local content. Existing, original or licensed, content is not enough for these markets.
That sounds plausible. I believe content supplemented by YouTube videos may help in such situations. The fact that there is publish date (I hope you can't change), it is unlikely someone can claim your content.
Noob question. What are the implications of writing books on platforms that are commercial in nature? Say I want to write a book or apigee or IBM bluemix. Are there licensing restrictions on what I can cover and what not.
> There is talk going on about a possible Bank Run.
Mind sharing any source? As per my layman knowledge, what's happening here is opposite. Bank have received $30B [1] so far in deposits in last few days.
Well, there are elections every year [1] in India in some or the other key states. Not denying what you are saying but any timing would raise political eyebrows. IMO average citizens have no problem with politicians drumbeating things that has positive impact.
I am an easterner who spent a few years in USA. In the beginning, I sort of liked how people seemed in control of their emotions in situations which would make me visibly angry. No one displayed their anger/frustration to the extent I am used to. This may be anecdotal but with time I observed that deep inside they lingered these emotions more than I would do, which as you implied, is unhealthy.
I wonder if there are any kind of restrictions on courses we cannot create/monetise on. Say a closed technology platform where platform owner reserve the rights.
