samber··on SubQ 1.1 Small
Comparing compute cost versus FlashAttention-2 is not very honest to me.

FlashAttention-2 is not used anymore for at least 2y.

This architecture would have been a massive improvement 3 years ago, but it is a ~solved~ problem IMO.

samber··on SubQ 1.1 Small
According to Subquadratic, Needle in a Haystack is strong up to 12m tokens, but RULER has not been tested above 128k tokens ??
samber··on Go: Support for Generic Methods
OMG. I'm going to recode some of my libraries.
samber··on A collection of 35 Golang Agent Skills
35+ atomic skills covering all aspects of the language (conventions, common errors, top libraries, testing, benchmarks, performance, troubleshooting, etc.).

Benchmarks I ran on Opus 4.6 show a 43% reduction in Go errors and bad practices.

Install with: npx skills add -g https://github.com/samber/cc-skills-golang --skill '*'

samber··on Go beyond Goroutines: introducing the Reactive paradigm
IMO, this is much more readable.

So many Go developers ignore some tools because they consider them "not idiomatic".

But why not use abstractions when available ??? Did we forget to be productive ?

samber··on "do" v2.0 – Dependency injection for Go
`do` builder here

After 2y in beta, I’ve just released v2 of “do”, the dependency injection toolkit for Golang.

This major version introduces a new scope-based architecture, transient services, interface binding, improved dependency tracking, and circular dependency detection.

Error handling and service naming are more consistent, and based on your feedback, a troubleshooting UI has been added.

A new LLM-ready documentation is available, featuring numerous demos you can run in 1 click: https://do.samber.dev/

Read the full changelog here: https://github.com/samber/do/releases/tag/v2.0.0

samber··on Structured Errors in Go (2022)
I wrote my own error wrapper: github.com/samber/oops

Example:

err := oops. Code("iam_missing_permission"). In("authz"). Tags("authz"). Time(time.Now()). With("user_id", 1234). With("permission", "post.create"). Hint("Runbook: https://doc.acme.org/doc/abcd.md"). User("user-123", "firstname", "john", "lastname", "doe"). Errorf("permission denied")

For easier debugging, the error contains the full stacktrace.

samber··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Vector DB?
Elasticsearch is a good bet, if you need to use multiple filters with your queries, and when you grow above the acceptable size of an in-memory database.
samber··on Confronting Risks of Mirror Life
thanks!
samber··on Mapping 20k ships that sank during WW II
we can even see the Normandy landing beaches (June 6, 1944)
samber··on 100M Token Context Windows
Based on Mamba ?
samber··on Don't Return Err in Go
I built a drop-in replacement to `error` recently. Instead of manipulating strings, it adds context, stacktrace... in a structured way.

samber··on Pg_lakehouse: Query Any Data Lake from Postgres
It seems very promising!

2 questions:

- do you distribute query processing over multiple pg nodes ?

- do you store the metadata in PG, instead of a traditional metastore?

samber··on Using ClickHouse to scale an events engine
I'm curious: how many rows Lago store in its CH cluster? Do they collect data for fighting fraud?

PG can handle a billion rows easily.

samber··on [dead]
no it's not (europe)
samber··on How to delete your data from data brokers
Surprisingly, collecting data is free, but removing PII with dedicated services is paid .
samber··on Elixir saves Pinterest $2M a year in server costs
They just stopped coding lambda... This is not a matter of a language. Lambda is costly.
samber··on Error Handling Patterns
For those who would rather use an Either type instead of returning 2 variables in Go, I made this: https://github.com/samber/mo
samber··on Bizarre and unusual uses of DNS

samber··on Ask HN: Tools to integrate all customer feedback channels
Tracking: Segment

Analytics: June

In-app surveys: Screeb

Product management: Harvestr

samber··on All poverty is energy poverty
in french too
samber··on TIFU by using Stripe as a payment processor for my small business
Stripe is developer centric. Discord has a lot of developers in their community.

I don't really like Discord, but i must admit it is a smart choice.

samber··on Show HN: A dependency injection library based on Go 1.18 Generics
I extended the traditional DI pattern with:

- A Healtcheckable interface: expose services state, with error cause.

- A Shutdownable interface: gracefully shutdown services in reverse dependency order.

samber··on Monads and popular FP abstractions, based on Go 1.18 Generics
This is my first submission ;)

I didn't even notice somebody else submitted my own lib before me ^^

samber··on Show HN: Favicons for HN
I just made a chrome extension: https://github.com/samber/refined-hn

Publishing request is pending.

samber··on YDB – An open-source Distributed SQL Database
I found a lot of mentions of "Postgresql" in repository: https://github.com/ydb-platform/ydb/search?q=postgresql

Is it build on top of PG ?

samber··on YDB – An open-source Distributed SQL Database
or cockroachdb and spanner ?
samber··on Taiwan should destroy TSMC if invaded, suggests US military paper
please don't !!
samber··on Writing a document database from scratch in Go: Lucene-like filters and indexes
I wonder what is the motivation?

Did you identify a limit to ES ? Did you need a simple query builder for advanced cockroachdb search queries?

Whatever your initial needs (production or experimentations), please add a short explanation in the article! ;)
