salzig··on Qwen3-TTS family is now open sourced: Voice design, clone, and generation
So now we're getting every movie in "original voice" but local language? Can't wait to view anime or Bollywood :D
salzig··on Qwen3-TTS family is now open sourced: Voice design, clone, and generation
there is a sample clone -> Trump speaks Japanese.

Edit: "Cross-lingual Voice Clone" https://qwen.ai/blog?id=qwen3tts-0115#voice-clone

salzig··on Pricing Changes for GitHub Actions
sadly they, afaik, do not implement the permission model. So no way to control the token permissions.

(plz correct me if i'm wrong)

salzig··on Pricing Changes for GitHub Actions
You mean "Protected branches"? Last time I checked that was part of the free tier, and the documentation[0] states the same.

salzig··on Gem.coop
Going crazy: we cold also adopt the container registry api for distributing gems, similar to how helm charts are also distributed nower days.
salzig··on Gem.coop
So GitHub would be one option. Developers already discover all kind of things there. And each gem can still be provided by its “main repository”, but I don’t mind on whatever domain that repository is located. Somewhat how container images are referenced/distributed already. I think go already does it like that too.

having a decentralized, and maybe sometime unavailable, infrastructure would make more people think about the problem and maybe brings us more stable solutions than we have now.

salzig··on Gem.coop
Just a thought of mine: why don’t we switch fully to git? Commit signing, tag signing, Decentralize. Doesn’t that sound like a good alternativ?

salzig··on Tell HN: Impassable Cloudflare challenges are ruining my browsing experience
Thanks for that note. I receive „spam“ by a US based Car Rentel/Leasing Company, cause they prevent me from unsubscribing because i am in European IP-Range (geo-blocking). Especially „nice“ cause they send me contract specific details of one of their customers, who misspelled his email address.

also not with 3d "Windows" (e.g. Cut-The-Rope).
salzig··on Traveling with Apple Vision Pro
yes, with windows. But not with Theater Mode or 3d "Windows" (e.g. Cut-The-Rope).
salzig··on Traveling with Apple Vision Pro
kinda true, but I'm surprised how some apps expect you to watch movies upright (TV+, Disney), which makes watching movies laying down quite "non ergonomic". ;)
salzig··on Show HN: A macOS app to prevent sound quality degradation on AirPods
Never had a problem using my Sennheiser PCX 550 (Bluetooth) with a Rode Video Mic Go II (USB). But when connecting my AirPods MacOS would switch the mic to them.
salzig··on Show HN: A macOS app to prevent sound quality degradation on AirPods
It works with your Sony headphones, cause MacOS only forces the headphone mic for apple headphones. Sucks, but is the annoying truth.
salzig··on Show HN: A macOS app to prevent sound quality degradation on AirPods
This is more or less only (sadly) a problem with apple headphones.

You can switch the current microphone on Mac by ALT-Clicking the audio menubar icon. Normally MacOS will remember and follow your decision, except when you have apple headphones. For some stupid reason MacOS forces the headphone microphone on those.

Setting FaceId is the first step, but you can also decide how often you have to reenter your password for reauthentication, or just so you don’t forget it. Directly beneath the face-id option.

now it kills the process (dev env, container).

Not sure what kills it, but without "columns" in "full_json_result" it runs through.

Looks like not all databases (mssql in this case) like the generated result.

salzig··on Meta cancels high-end mixed reality headset after Apple Vision Pro struggles
In regards to VR, I think Valve could really move the hole situation by building/providing SteamLink VR on AVP, as they do on Meta Quest. Buy any Bluetooth (VR) Controller and enjoy games streamed.

And maybe in some future I will be able to stream from Linux hosts via SteamLink.

salzig··on Meta cancels high-end mixed reality headset after Apple Vision Pro struggles
IMHO: the AVP is a DevKit that is sold to consumers. But more polished then the typical DevKit.

But looking into the past and seeing how many people where eager to buy GoogleGlas/Oculus Devkits, why shouldn’t a brand like apple decide to push out a devkit as high price consumer device, instead of trying to keep a devkit for a upcoming product a secret?

I’m still wondering what direction the product can and will take from here on. If you compare it with iphone1 vs iPhones today, it could be quite interesting.
