sachitgupta··on Stripe Atlas for LLCs
Mostly in FL but I also travel a bunch cause I'm remote.
sachitgupta··on Stripe Atlas for LLCs
> If you don't plan on trying to raise VC money, then a local LLC is preferable to a Delaware LLC in 99.999999% of business cases.

Well, I do have clients and customers outside FL - lots of them. Does that make a difference?

sachitgupta··on Stripe Atlas for LLCs
@Patio11 - I recently moved from California to Florida and I'm about to open an LLC here.

What are the advantages / disadvantages of having an LLC based in Delaware vs creating one in Florida?

I'd love to use Stripe Atlas - but not sure if I'm making things more complicated than they need to be by opening in Delaware vs Florida.

sachitgupta··on I and We
Another interesting thing to look at is how founders talk about their team - do people work for them or with them?

Great passage from this post on leadership and mentoring: http://www.bothsidesofthetable.com/2010/12/02/whose-life-are...

You looked after me when I got there and treated me like a friend, not an employee. You refused to say “he works for me” you always said, “he works with me.”

sachitgupta··on How to tell when someone is lying?
Part of using these to test lies requires first establishing a baseline. For instance, they would ask:

- What's your name? Where were you born? How much do you weigh? (or similar questions to understand your non-verbal).

It's super super important to first establish that baseline.

sachitgupta··on Edward Snowden: the whistleblower behind revelations of NSA surveillance

This guy doesn't seem very smart at all. And using pillow cases and shields over screens to stop the NSA?
I think someone like him, with his level of access to information, would have his reasons for choosing China.

One way to get around this is to offer an incentive to people who've purchased your book to give you their email address, for example, a workbook; and link to the email signup landing page within the book.

sachitgupta··on 37signals invests in The Starter League
That's the wrong way to do this: you're basically asking him to go through your skills, then go through his business and find where they intersect so you can help him. It's take away one of his most important resources, time.

Instead, research everything about 37Signals and Starter League (example: http://charliehoehn.com/2009/01/08/how-to-hack-someones-mind...), come up 3 ideas that benefit them, and pitch them as someone who will get it done and they won't have to manage. When contacting busy people, you'll get far better returns with this approach.

I'd go into more detail, but Charlie already wrote the roadmap for doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5qUR3tpEdA

sachitgupta··on Why I now, unfortunately, hate Hacker News..
As an example, Tim Ferris has this right above the comment submission box (getting to users right when they're about to take an action):

Comment Rules: Remember what Fonzie was like? Cool. That’s
how we’re gonna be — cool. Critical is fine, but if you’re
rude, we’ll delete your stuff. Please do not put your URL in
the comment text and please use your PERSONAL name or
initials and not your business name, as the latter comes off
like spam. Have fun and thanks for adding to the
conversation! (Thanks to Brian Oberkirch for the inspiration).
Screenshot: http://cl.ly/Ipex Guidelines are nice, but most people won't see them. It might work better to get to them right when they're taking the action.

This is an amazing interview with Chris Sacca and Kevin Rose: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6NpHbMFaQ8 Chris talks about being $1 million+ in debt at one point. Keep going!
sachitgupta··on It’s okay to say “I Don’t Know”
Interesting, this was the first type of question I was asked at an interview, something like, "From our website, how do you think we plan to do x?". Obviously, there was nothing related to x on their site.

It's a great way to separate people who'll make up something vs people who are good at admitting what they don't know and are willing to look for the answer.
