I’m curious to see the implementation. If there’s a break in do I have to sit through a 30sec ad before I can interact with the app to see what’s going on?
At this point I’ve even had clients ask for it, thinking it makes their site more professional and credible, since everyone else does it.
AI is nothing like anything we’ve seen, and is truly unique in the dangers it poses to the world.
Just give me a giant catalogue of every show, movie, and album known to man and let me buy or rent a-la-carte for a fair price.
At the moment I’ve dropped all streaming platforms and am back to Apple. If I want to watch something I just buy it and don’t have to worry about subscribing to yet another service.
I think there are a lot of problems, but mainly I just don’t think it’s ever going to be practical to write and maintain software (front or backend) using conversational text prompts. It’s a very imprecise tool for the job.
The “why” question is a good one. I’m not well versed in theology, but I thought the general idea was that God’s goal was to create independant beings with agency and free will. And in order to accomplish that God (an omnipotent being) would by necessity have to limit their own power. Without doing so it would be logically impossible for other free beings to exist.
How did you arrive at that conclusion? With or without a god, and barring any new evidence, sentient life seems to stand out as mind-blowing special and amazing.
> looking at the sheer size of the universe, supposing that we have any special place in it is sheerest hubris.
I don’t think it logically follows that our physical size relative to the size of the universe can tell us anything meaningful at all.
That content is provided by the publisher, via meta tags, specifically designed for that purpose. The publisher has full control.
It’s trivial for a publisher to even opt of search engine indexing entirely if they choose.
I don’t know anyone with a “For you” tab like that. What’s the explanation? Are you engaging with that kind of content?
And in general I find it’s more accurate and far more concise than anything that’s going to show up in a Google search.
I mean, there’s no way I’m taking what it says at face value or copy / pasting code from its response, but that goes for stack overflow, or any other source too. (maybe sans official docs)
In one interview the engineer interviewing me explained how they didn’t have any paying customers, and then went on to describe an elaborate over-engineered micro-service based architecture he was working on.
The real kicker was that instead of asking me about my 20 years building products, or our infrastructure at my last gig that handled millions of customers across the globe, he instead wanted to watch me code some goofy coding quiz he had prepared.
Yup. The key word here is “projects”.
The web designer technically isn’t turning down the client they’re turning down the project. It’s an important distinction.
I’d happily pay good money for high quality news / journalism presented appropriately for the medium. That means a lot of concise real time information, coupled with long form discussion and debate. All packaged up in a modern, high quality web app, with auxiliary mobile applications.
