runbathtime··on Airbnb to House 20k Refugees
Do they get reimbursed from the federal government for this?
runbathtime··on Google employees who work from home could lose money
Somehow I think they will be ok.

Also, the ones that can show their productivity increased at home might get a raise.

runbathtime··on Binance hires ex California Regulator Alvarez
Here is another article discussing-

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20210706005771/en/For...

Brian Brooks just announced he's leaving Binance. I wonder if we can allege that regulators are taking bribes. Why isn't this illegal and what would make it so?

runbathtime··on Crypto community slams ‘disastrous’ new amendment to big infrastructure bill
Instead of trying to pass an amendment to the bill just for crypto they should be against passing the entire bill. What hypocrites- they do not care about freedom, only about what is good for their industry.

Also, it is clear that congress could care less about understanding what crypto really is in a deep way. They only care about using power and extracting their rents.

runbathtime··on Launch HN: BlackOakTV (YC S21) – Netflix for black people
You deny reality --"White and black basketball players aren't different physically" seriously? The only reason blacks dominate bball is bc they are different physically. The same for why we have women's sports that exclude men. The reason why blacks need to create X for blacks is often because they can't compete without it, which just means yes groups on avg are different. Whites can't compete with black bball players. Groups on average are different. So yes, I can see why there is a reason and market for a NBA for whites.
runbathtime··on Launch HN: BlackOakTV (YC S21) – Netflix for black people
It is a big market actually. Kendi has made a lot of money off of the amount of whites that enjoy and pay to be told they are bad ppl with white privilege.
runbathtime··on Launch HN: BlackOakTV (YC S21) – Netflix for black people
Question to the mods- Would it be okay to make a Netflix for white people company and post it to hacker news?

Question for the founders- At least since Feb 2021, Amazon and Netflix have created and promoted black voices by creating a separate category. Is the problem you attempt to solve more visibility and is what Amazon doing insufficient?

runbathtime··on Law school applicants surge 13%, biggest increase since dot-com bubble
Ok, it would be nice if you banned the comments from the other side of the ideological spectrum, to be consistent.
runbathtime··on Miami Launches 'MiamiCoin' to Make Millions and Fund the Police
Now cities are selling unregistered securities.
runbathtime··on The STEM Crisis Is a Myth (2013)
Sarcastic
runbathtime··on The Push for a “PBS for the Internet”
Diversity of thought is a problem. Diversity as commonly defined only by race is being promoted everywhere.
runbathtime··on How to boost your popularity on OkCupid using CSRF and a JSON type confusion
Is this a type of inflation or a type of fraud or neither? Popularity is a made up category, or one that is ill defined while being manipulative. Popularity implies those most desired, but since this can be goosed by paying for attention, it is meaningless and hence let the hacking begin.
runbathtime··on The rise of never-ending job interviews
Do diverse candidates have the same amount of interviews as non affirmative action hires?
runbathtime··on The rise of never-ending job interviews
Do diversity hires have never-ending job interviews? Or are they just streamlined in?

It would be considered oppression if black candidate where given as many interviews as white candidates.

Actually it is a serious question. When diversity is apparent what is the difference in the number of interviews required?

Are white and asian males more scrutinized to make up for the logical shortfall of affirmative action hires that just get to mess stuff up while the asians clean up their mess?

runbathtime··on Dollar stores make up nearly half of all new store openings in the U.S.
Dollar stores are for poor people. Americans are becoming impoverished. Elites are getting richer, thanks to Fed policy and our bailout economy that creates inflation at the expense of the saver.
runbathtime··on The Push for a “PBS for the Internet”
PBS should be privately funded.
runbathtime··on Zoom settles US class action privacy lawsuit for $86m
Did zoom not have forced arbitration? When can forced arbitration turn into a class action?

The courts are public and law can be made from new interpretations and context (precedent). Coinbase, Kraken, etc have forced arbitration. Can this be overturned when a new interpretation (say securities law) could be made by a court in the open, vs arbitration which is private?

runbathtime··on My rant about React
I have a hard time learning react, because the 'language' used is so divorced from the concepts or actions of what it is the code does... If that makes sense. So I memorize some language chunks in react that does something and this is supposed to be 'programming?' How can I ever know what this stuff does? And why I'm supposed to use it. I just get frustrated with all these frameworks.
runbathtime··on 1 out of every 153 American workers is an Amazon employee
So that is why they ended forced arbitration?
runbathtime··on Grand jury indicts Trevor Milton, Nikola founder, on three counts of fraud
If you want to commit fraud without any trouble from regulators, go start a decentralized crypto currency.
runbathtime··on Grand jury indicts Trevor Milton, Nikola founder, on three counts of fraud
That is exactly what I was thinking.

Elizabeth Holmes.

I think even if you are a private company, lying is still a type of fraud. And private companies still have shareholders. Just because they are not public companies doesn't mean they can just lie to their shareholders, although perhaps it is more difficult to prove?

The only area that I can think of where you can get away with lying about an industry or asset is when it comes to crypto. You can make sky high predictions and because they aren't labeled as securities there is no victim. Because they use the word decentralized there is no one responsible.

runbathtime··on Clubhouse opens its doors to everyone, is anyone rushing to get in?
I think Clubhouse would be better if it was anonymous.
runbathtime··on Grand jury indicts Trevor Milton, Nikola founder, on three counts of fraud
How do they define fraud? Lying? Isn't every company doing this?
runbathtime··on A nationwide wave of evictions threatens more than six million families
What about the unaffordability crisis for those that are still renting and waiting to buy? By keeping people in homes they do not pay for, you drive up home prices and reduce supply for everyone else. Not to mention create the moral hazard to just get a government backed home loan and not pay it.
runbathtime··on Cryptocurrency has a 'bro' problem. Women say they can disrupt the Bitcoin bros
If they want to disrupt it, I say go for it. They can also fork it and create a girly version of any crypto.
runbathtime··on Cryptocurrency has a 'bro' problem. Women say they can disrupt the Bitcoin bros
What if we were to say that cryptocurrency has a 'gal' problem. Men say they can disrupt the Bitcoin gals.
runbathtime··on Disinformation for hire, a shadow industry, is quietly booming
This requires being the truth police. Everything should be allowed to be printed, even for a price. Everything is potentially incorrect or not truth. Everything is propaganda or motivated to be printed for some purpose and benefit of someone. The solution is to teach people to be independent thinkers, not invoke the thought police.

In our fascist mixed economy it is every gang against every other gang. I can't blame the gangs in the society we have built.

runbathtime··on Tether executives said to face criminal probe into bank fraud
All of those reserves are technically theirs, they do not belong to token holders.
runbathtime··on Tether executives said to face criminal probe into bank fraud
So what? Why should people not in crypto care if Tether crashes the market?
runbathtime··on S.F. is considering downtown 'congestion pricing'
How about not letting people who vote who do not pay taxes.
