robinhoodexe··on A Minecraft world that has been played for 3.5 years
Very impressive. How many days in total have been spent playing this world?

Also, some gems in there[1].

Looks sort of unfinished on my end.

robinhoodexe··on GitHub vs. Bitbucket: It's More Than Just Features
I choose BitBucket purely because of the unlimited private repos. I get all the opensource collaborations free data fork me, and it's all cool, but when I play around with my own projects, I'd rather keep it private until it's ready for "real" use.

Also, I use Git to manage large projects written in LaTeX. So far the limit of 5 collaborators haven't been an issue.

robinhoodexe··on The LaTeX cargo cult
While (La)Tex could be better/faster/easier to use, it's still the best typesetting system there is.
robinhoodexe··on Show HN: I created an app to sync any folder with Dropbox
True, but it works exactly as you'd expect it to.
robinhoodexe··on Ask HN: What is your photo backup strategy (on Mac)?
Time machine once every day to a 2 TB external harddrive (WD Elements). It just works.
robinhoodexe··on Show HN: I created an app to sync any folder with Dropbox
It already exists on OS X[1], and it also works with Google Drive and a bunch of other cloud storage providers.

robinhoodexe··on Apple Accidentally reveals iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3
Granted, that was not good, but I did mean marketing-related accidents only.
robinhoodexe··on Apple Accidentally reveals iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3
I honestly don't think Apple ever does something accidentally related to marketing. Everything is planned and executed to perfection. You can say a lot about Apple, but they're very good at marketing and "accidentally" stealing attention (remember that guy "leaving" his unreleased iPhone in a bar?).
robinhoodexe··on Introducing Carrot
Awesome, although the font, in my opinion, should be sans-serif, preferebly something like Helvetica, to be maximum web 3.0 responsive design javascript framework startup like.
robinhoodexe··on Ask HN: Private Git repo hosting?
I use a free BitBucket plan. The unlimited private repos are perfect for me, since I have a lot of small projects that I'll likely never finish. Also, i have Pass[1] set up with Git, so everything is backed up, under version control and is pushed to my Raspberry Pi so I can access all my passwords on my iPhone as well.

Also, I use Git for large academic projects and papers in LaTeX, so public Github is not really ideal.

robinhoodexe··on Sile, a typesetting system inspired by TeX and InDesign
Looks very interesting, I might give this a try.
robinhoodexe··on Gifshot: JS library to create animated GIFs from media streams, videos, images
I wish we could move away from the awful format that is animated gif and use something much better in terms of compression, color support and frame rate. Like webm.[1][2]

robinhoodexe··on Real Life MMO FPS
If the server software was opensource you could host one yourself and decide the rules, make custom game modes (capture the flag for example) and make the game work the exact way you'd like. For example, I could imagine this being very fun for disabled people in wheelchairs, but the default gameplay should probably be changed.
robinhoodexe··on Real Life MMO FPS
If this was opensource... Oh, the possibilities...
robinhoodexe··on Show HN: Javelin Browser
Looks pretty slick!
robinhoodexe··on Gnod News: Search Hacker News and Reddit Comments
Nice. I'd like to use regexp in the search, or some other kind of advanced parameters. For example, I searched for "latex" and got no results from the document preparation system LaTeX.
robinhoodexe··on iOS 8 Private NFC Framework
I would appreciate a readme or something that describes this project.
robinhoodexe··on JavaScript for OS X Automation
I'd rather have Lua to be honest... But JS is better than AppleScript in this regard. While easy to understand, it wasn't suited for large projects and debugging was kinda nasty.
robinhoodexe··on KaTeX: Math typesetting for the web
Not bad, but MathJax is also pretty fast:

robinhoodexe··on Show HN: Explore tilings of the hyperbolic plane by moving the mouse
Very nice!
robinhoodexe··on [dead]
Saw this on facebook earlier today... I can't believe this has found its way into HN. Selling devices with the best specs has never been the mission at Apple. Mixing good specs with beautiful design, great useability and the integration with OS X and iOS is what Apple excels at.
robinhoodexe··on Naval Charts
Really nice, although the site seems to load somewhat slow for me...
robinhoodexe··on The Man Behind the World's Smallest V-12 Engine [video]
Now this is incredible...
robinhoodexe··on Blackbox: Safely store secrets in Git
Interesting. For storing passwords I use Pass[1] which encrypts everything with GPG and then store it using Git in a private bitbucket repo. Works really well for me. I love the simplicity and ease of use.

Warning: can probably freeze you browser if you look at the most forked projects.

Source Code Pro
robinhoodexe··on Please. Stop Using Git
Disclaimer: it's a joke.
robinhoodexe··on A New Editor by Slides News
Interesting, I'll check it out, although I'll probably end up sticking with LaTeX's Beamer class anyway.
