Most information is extremely niche, but Coding is all over the internet.
I have not been able to google some of my (Industry Level) Chemistry questions.
This is 80% of my code, but I only spend 20% of my time doing it.
Its that obscure bug that really requires reading.
I find if I am spending lots of time Googling/Stack Overflow, its for the quick lookup of parameters and a real world example.
Something like 'Save Money on Food', I am positive I am best-in-class, but I am only front page google, on occasion. Without a doubt, I should be the number 1 result, and instead, well SEO'd mom-science wins.
Btw, does this mean google should be looking for crappy code/design=genuine website?
Thank you
In the future we will have strong criticisms of the US Dollar. It historically has not been stable over long periods of time. However, the US government has nearly forced every country to doing business in USD.
This is great for ease of business, but given how low interest rates are, I expect a historic inflation of USD in my lifetime.
Given its impossible to hire someone at Minimum Wage(2019), I believe we have inflation that is not being recorded with the US federal reserve. 2%/yr seems... fake.
I need to ask, what is the problem here? At my fortune 500 company, I make easily enough that I don't care about money.
In a few years, I'll have my home paid off, and in a few more, enough money to retire forever.
What do you want the supplemental income for?
If I could warn anyone, I found our fellow 'highly educated' nerds, fall for marketing, similar to how we see the uneducated masses fall for populist politicians. I believe this is because these 'nerds', don't work in automotive and have limited understanding of 2019 automotive technology.
I could not live off my website being free, I have a day job.
And as the author says, open source advocates tend to be more libertarian.
And also as the author said, using 'socialism' will make people cringe. Yes, because the author is trying very hard to find 'digital' socialism.
This user speaks of Utopia where there is infinite engineering resources and endless profit to dig into.
Maybe I suck at business, but making profit is very hard.
I have no reason for privacy, its like buying a Mini Van when you are single.
EDIT: HN is bad at discussing ideas. I suggest not downvoting people for dissent.
There may be some users here who need privacy, or some users who think privacy is necessary to keep whistleblowers safe.
The majority of users want fantastic service.
Privacy is niche, and not needed for everyone. We already have solutions, and have users pay for a dummy accounts.
Email does not benefit much from format when doing communication.
Marketing and sales is a different story.
Between Ramen and Breakfast Burritos, I can cook faster than a drive to Taco Bell.
I cannot see how groceries can be further optimized. More selection?
Although, I do agree, cute pictures are easy to produce.
The fact that my friend, a total casual, is investing in Tesla and Apple via Robin Hood has me concerned the market is inflated with dumb money.
So if everyone can spend 3,000 dollars and get best in class computing, what are you paying for with Apple?
They have lots of marketing that psychologically makes you feel good?
I don't understand how my fellow developers could ever tolerate Apple doing this.
This goes one way, and its been like this for decades.
7 Billion dead humans because of 'Freedom' would be worse than a few hundred dead people?
But each dead person had a life and a story.
What is best?
So... Never trust DigitalOcean for anything important.
The customer who didnt research?
The physician who gets lunch twice a year from Accutane?
The government for stopping freedom?
Note: none of this is /s, I would like to discuss why this happens, and if there are any solutions.
I ask great authors post this at the start and end of bash of capitalism. It is good we all acknowledge how great markets are, what kind of damage can we do fighting it?
So I can have my old thoughts
Doing hard things is time consuming and/or expensive.
As a side note, I find it interesting how non-engineers describe the reverse engineering process. I thought this was hard to understand.
It only takes the Republican Party winning 1 election to destroy economic freedom.
My political thoughts are going to change drastically if we can resew economic conditions with China after Trump leaves office.
