rkaregaran··on Agentic Coding Is a Trap
nonsense take; just like you train a junior engineer to make better and better decisions over time; your expertise as a senior engineer nmaturally forces a drift to helping others be more productive
rkaregaran··on Laws of Software Engineering
(this is the correct answer, parent needs to understand this better)
rkaregaran··on Descent, ported to the web
I remember buying this at fry’s with my dad in the 90s!

rkaregaran··on Gurus of 90s Web Design: Zeldman, Siegel, Nielsen
Designing with Web Standards was the bible during the web's golden era. Peer's minds were being blown that we could lay stuff out without tables and spacers.
rkaregaran··on Debts, Tech and Otherwise
reforge has a great post where they classify the various types of debt in digital product development: maintenance debt, developer efficiency debt, stability debt, security debt, technical product debt, decision debt. https://www.reforge.com/blog/managing-tech-debt

rkaregaran··on Microsoft defends Edge's predatory practices with cringe, audacious reply on X
Edge started as a reffreshing take on a chromium-based browser, then they regressed to absolute early 2000s bloatware-Microsoft. I was an avid user for about 4 years. Now I avoid it like the plague, except for their awesome “Read Aloud” feature. Can’t recommend Arc browser enough, it’s a browser built with craft and designed to streamline modern workflows.
rkaregaran··on Google employees complain about CEO's pay raise as cost cuts hit company
It may not be a “real” problem, but reporting on the excessive comp of public company executives is valuable and sourced from employees, no less. The ratio of CEO to employee salary is at a major imbalance.
rkaregaran··on Show HN: Using GPT-3 and Whisper to save doctors’ time
This! No mention of HIPAA on their site at all. Would be a total non-starter for any providers not in private practice.
rkaregaran··on John Carmack Leaves Meta
Carmack addressing the leak of his internal memo, and notably, sharing his next goal of achieving AGI at Keen Technologies.

rkaregaran··on macOS no longer allows changing wifi mac address
I experienced this a couple of months ago while trying to spoof a hotel room's captive portal. I was attempting to get a Chromecast to work, which isn't designed to operate with wifi connections behind captive portals. Very frustrating and no feedback from the OS that the commands I was running weren't actually doing what it said it was doing. This was on a latest gen MacBook Pro 15" running latest version at the time of MacOS.
rkaregaran··on Azure Intellectual Property Advantage
Appears that they're offering patent lawsuit indemnification as a built-in to using Azure, as they have a massive patent portfolio: "use Azure, and as an additional benefit, we'll cover damages related to patent law suits that arise, if we have a patent with which we can defend."
rkaregaran··on Trunk-Based Development
Puppet Labs’ recently published State of DevOps (2016) report specifically calls out trunk-based development as a leading indicator of high performing organizations [1].
