riskyingo··on FUTO open-sources 1M row keyboard swipe dataset
FUTO is what tech companies should be
riskyingo··on ICE Arrested and Detained a US Citizen for Hours Because He Looked Mexican
holy moly it got flagged, fuck the orange clown and his worshipers
riskyingo··on 'Just stop buying lattes': The origins of a millennial housing myth
Some folks who never struggled really believe that sadly.

I remember the story of a millionaire who put the challenge to rebuild his wealth starting from scratch within a year. Long story short, he failed and learned the hard way everything was saying is bs

riskyingo··on Turkish PhD student at Tufts cuffed, detained
Lobbying works in mysterious ways in the land of the free.
riskyingo··on Ask HN: Do you use AI to generate majority of your production code?
We did some 1 month copilot test then decided not to use it.

I used and still use gpt 4 for some exploratory and learning with a mixed experience here too. I ask it to populate some tests here and there or to provide debugging pointers and once to help me design a logo.

riskyingo··on Is it safe to travel to the United States with your phone?
yes, you will be asked to unlock it
riskyingo··on Dutch Parliament: Time to ditch US tech for homegrown options
I hope more countries will follow suit
riskyingo··on Who's using the LLM feature in all products?
Not me and neither people in my workplace. I always give them a shot in case I am missing a productivity increase then give up. The latest one was pulumi cloud assistant. We even gave up on code assistants.
riskyingo··on Ask HN: Would you reapply to a company that ghosted you?
(in my exp and geo location at least) Hiring and dating are very similar, the more desperate you look the less respect you get. There are a lot of companies out there and an infinite number of ways to make money except getting a job. Good luck!
riskyingo··on Do people still think crypto is a scam in 2025?
In my circle, nobody with some education considers crypto a scam.. And more joiners every day.

The fact that backbone financial institutions are replacing their dinosaur infra with XRP is a big indication that crypto is here to stay.

All the arguments against crypto are still superficial and non-convincing. It seems like most financial institutions could be replaced by smart contracts. People who are into speculation also have a place away from the exclusive stocks club. Others who dont trust governments and banks have a solution now (truckers protest in Canada)..

We are somehow back to the "is internet a scam", or before it "is electricity a scam".. They are not, they are a necessary evolution to meet people'd needs.

riskyingo··on List of Brave Browser Controversies
Thanks!

Louis Rossmann complained that Brave did things, I asked in the comments: like? nobody replied.

riskyingo··on Which programming languages should be retired in 2025, and why?
Probably recent ones with 0 adoption I would say. Carbon for example. Because there s no way anything with massive code bases can ever retire if that's what you mean.
riskyingo··on Why Do So Many Millennials Look and Seem So Much Younger Than They Are?
here s the real question, why HN became a trash bin?
riskyingo··on Trae: An AI-powered IDE by ByteDance
Yeah, I think ByteDance can also write your chatgpt wrapped in nextjs
riskyingo··on [dead]
The argument killing the IQ concept IMO is that with enough preparation, you gonna score way higher. All the top publications I could find support that (let me know if you want me to list a couple)
riskyingo··on Trae: An AI-powered IDE by ByteDance
I would rather let Chinese companies take my data than US/EU ones where I have bank accounts. Unless you are a super important, influential person, you shouldn't worry about China.
riskyingo··on Ask HN: What will be the next trend after AI?
AI and blockchain are here to strive (not the scam version of both), I would bet more on federation and decentralization that would make a strong comeback
riskyingo··on IQ is largely a pseudoscientific swindle
The fact that most people can score really high with enough practice and preparation is just a good sign to disregard it entirely.
riskyingo··on These are the countries where TikTok is already banned (2024)
wtf, in most of these it s only for government officials. Such a misleading title.
riskyingo··on Elon Musk Playing PoE2
ok I guess?
riskyingo··on I am offering mentoring: In which I help you
That's too humble to assume it's a dumb question. If a title includes I, me, we, us, ... I am skipping.
riskyingo··on Tell HN: A word of advice for new developers
if you are one or two steps away from homelessness, fixing that is definitely a priority.
riskyingo··on Unemployed office workers are having a harder time finding new jobs
I currently work remotely and was talking to my wife that if I loose this job we will have to relocate, no more remote jobs, I don't want to play the rat race. I participated in hiring (reviewing people's exercices) and all are gaming the system, none could explain simple things in the tech challenge they put together, some are prepared to answer some questions but it takes minutes to realize this person didn't do any of that.
riskyingo··on China is the manufacturing superpower
cool, so no other country except US should buy that crap
riskyingo··on The Rise and Future Fall of MicroStrategy
Yeah, the coperedictor.

The current financial system is straight up unusable. Cashing out on the future of money is cool.

riskyingo··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
Thanks, I didn't know I could just do that.
riskyingo··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
Weird, there are places where political news can be discussed. You feel you need a variety, others might feel rightfully that it should stick to its purpose. Coming back to analogies, I don't send memes to work chats.
