* https://standardresume.co/ - Started because I couldn't find a resume that I liked.
* https://amplitudeapp.com/ - A more advanced artist radio style playlist maker.
* http://rediscover.rile.yt/ - Automatically save Spotify discover weekly playlists.
Standard Resume now has over 15k users and is still growing with only minor updates and fixes based on feedback. It doesn't make any money.

Interactive music discovery. Amplitude tries to get a feel for your current mood and then gives you a 30 song playlist that you can save to Spotify.
Spotify's discover weekly is great, but you only get one playlist a week. The radios are a great idea, but I found them to far to repetitive and playing very mainstream music I'v already heard. Amplitude sits somewhere in the middle.
I would consider paying for the service, but not much (and im not sure many other people would). You definitely have a good point here. I'm not sure how you could make money without having the recruiters as your customers, which would put you back in the same bad place as linkedin. Maybe something along the lines of tying it to the refarral bonuses people are getting?
I'd be interested to hear how people with profitable side projects went from side project to profitability.
Don't most people use templates for their resumes? From our initial research with hiring managers and recruiters, they valued readability and scanability over fancy design and customization, which is why we chose to go with one, very well designed and easy to read style.
