If you want to live somewhere South Sudanese get about in shopping centres with machetes, car jacking, and stabbing people on the streets… Maybe don’t come to Australia.

Sooner or later, the West needs to wake up and realise that empathy for the offenders over empathy for the victims, hasn’t worked.

And that includes meth and heroin dealers.

Marijuana, meh, stupid drug anyway. But I know too many people who used weed long term and now have chronic psychosis, so yeah that ain’t great.

> These are pretty rare failure modes.

You don’t know that. None of the most recent EV sales are even ten years old yet.

We don’t know what the common failure modes are.

All of these counties have this this funny thing going on where you’re never sure, when you go out, whether you’re going to be car jacked, or stabbed.

All of them didn’t used to be like that.

You think humans are ants.

You’re wrong.

When you go out in to the world you’re learn that for yourself.

Amy group of humans who think they can run things ”collectively” is always immediately over run by those who know they can’t.

No it’s not.

It’s proof of the opposite of your conjecture.

Anarchy always rapidly evolves in to government.

Whoever, or whichever group, performs the making, administering, and enforcement of rules, is the government.

Show me one example where people and cars use a shared space that isn’t also a road. Or a street, or boulevard, or whatever.

Buying an EV outside of the factory warranty period is not an experiment I’d be interested in participating.

What do you do when, say, the insulation on the motor’s windings disintegrates over night on a whole production run of thousands of cars.

Or the batteries turn out to a fail at some yet to be revealed number of charge cycles.

> documents three incidents that saw ordinary people subjected to abuses, including drone strikes, torture, and arbitrary detention. In a fourth case, a fishing boat and most of its crew went missing amid signs of another attack.

That is unfortunate.

Are you going to bother to mention the millions who have been affected by imported drugs?

rightnutwingjob··on What is the size of Yemen? (2024)
Drug smugglers.

We’ve devolved from the proverbial slap on the wrist to the practice of a pat on the back and we’ll wishes.

Anything short of that is viewed as a a crime against humanity.

It’s not really that much of a stretch to think this is exactly what is going on.

One state in Australia, Victoria, recently disappeared $15 billion of public funds to criminal organisations under the guise of funding a big infrastructure project.

Okay, that’s not entirely accurate. No one knows how much money disappeared, it could be up to $30 billion.

Labor-Green governments do this everywhere.

It’s entirely reasonable to suspect something similar is going on in Germany around their nuclear decommissioning.

rightnutwingjob··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
Ah yes, The Carbon Dioxide Boogyman.

It’s literally in our blood, but couldn’t possibly serve any purpose in the atmosphere.

Yes, we must destroy ourselves in this singular focus of forcing green renewables on everyone at any cost.

Remember when governments weren’t to be trusted, and we were taught to question things? No? Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Climate Change isn’t an existential threat.

Green energy isn’t.

Renewables are not.

Edit to add: heh, the CSIRO eh? That bastion of truth.

rightnutwingjob··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
It doesn’t matter what you think. What does the data tell us?

Won’t it also take decades and cost billions to roll out renewables to the extend that they can even put a dent in total energy usage? So I don’t see how that is even an argument.

rightnutwingjob··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
What are these decommissioning costs?

The reactor vessel and the primary coolant loop.

All that steel can be vitrified and stored in stainless casks somewhere fairly indefinitely.

Or just buried. It doesn’t stay reactive very long.

The rest of the site is no different to any other electricity generator, and no different really to the average industrial manufacturing plant.

Everyone likes to just say ”decommissioning costs”, without actually thinking about what any of that means.

It’s not like every nuclear power site is a Chernobyl.
