rev··on Resignation from the pkg-systemd maintainer team
Guix, the GNU system, uses dmd.
rev··on Show HN: The perfect email client for startup CEOs
The perfect Show HN title.
rev··on Yandex.Browser for Linux
You inaccurately equate the "blogger law" requirements (i.e. having to "register, disclose [blogger's] personal information and submit to the same regulations as mass media") with mass surveillance.
rev··on Yandex.Browser for Linux
At least wrt searches you can easily send info to, say, AOL, every browser, Y.B included, allows that. (It is interesting for the Russian-speaking auditory to note that Y.Browser doesn't include search engines of other Yandex's competitors on the Russian market - Mail.ru and Rambler, while it has Ask, Bing and whatnot).
rev··on Yandex.Browser for Linux
Some useful extensions like LastPass, Adguard, Pocket and Evernote are packaged (but not enabled) by default. Functionally it's Yandexified Chromium (vs Googlized Chromium aka Chrome—and modulo UI chrome of course).
rev··on Yandex.Browser for Linux
Download page is in Russian, but the interface is in English when installed. International site (http://browser.yandex.com) still has "We're working on it".
rev··on Oberon/F for Mac OS (1997)
Russian Oberon community continues BlackBox development: http://oberoncore.org/blackbox/environment Basic Linux support was added.
rev··on GitHub.com momentarily blacklisted in Russia
Exactly. Only a few regional ISPs have been blocking GitHub for a short amount of time.
rev··on RethinkDB 1.15: Geospatial queries
It's no longer compatible with jessie/sid either. precise and saucy versions depend on libprotobuf7 (wheezy has it too), trusty - on libprotobuf8 and jessie has libprotobuf9.
rev··on We're building the GNU system [pdf]
Well, than I would like to extend my apologies to Ludovic Courtès.

Aforementioned discorteous post from reddit user would really be understandable coming from a GNU enthusiast if caustic in form.

rev··on We're building the GNU system [pdf]
I concur. Besides NixOS is certainly more polished right now, at least for my definition of "polish" (I think, the right word for Scheme based Guix is "cohesive", maybe even "elegant"). It should be, being several years old, compared to Guix, which has been running on real hardware for mere weeks.
rev··on We're building the GNU system [pdf]
Yes, that's one of the reasons Guix attracts me as well. By the way, it's interesting to note here that when it comes to directory structure POSIX is much less strict than FHS [0], which NixOS and Guix largely abandon.

rev··on We're building the GNU system [pdf]
Talk about technological merits, huh? The onus is on him to prove that dmd is a viable alternative.
rev··on We're building the GNU system [pdf]
systemd works exclusively with the Linux kernel, and thus it's infeasible for the GNU system to settle on it. Here's current dmd maintainer's (Courtès) take on the matter: http://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/25abkh/what_is_wrong_...

Videos from the GHM 2014 aren't online yet. They will probably be posted at http://www.gnu.org/ghm/previous.html eventually. You can find video and slides of Ludovic Courtès' talk on Guix from the GHM 2013 at http://www.gnu.org/ghm/2013/paris/.
rev··on Draft chapters of the Ruby on Rails Tutorial, 3rd Edition
Do you intend to make use of new 4.2 goodness or simply make the tutorial 4.2-compatible? Granted, some of the improvements in 4.2 are out of scope for the book (like ActiveJob), some are performance related, but there is also web console. It fits the philosophy of the new edition perfectly and would be a useful addition to the book.
rev··on Draft chapters of the Ruby on Rails Tutorial, 3rd Edition
Only two weeks? Splendid, I start reading through the draft right now.
rev··on Draft chapters of the Ruby on Rails Tutorial, 3rd Edition
Michael, let me ask two predictable questions.

1. When do you expect to complete the 3rd edition? Seeing as the book is being heavily reworked and knowing your attention to detail, I guess the answer is "when it's ready".

2. Will the Rails version be fixed at 4.1?

rev··on Sleep as a Competitive Advantage
That's what studying compiler construction does for your brain!
rev··on PEP 450: Adding A Statistics Module To The Standard Library
Kudos to PHP for apparently being ahead of the curve among dynamic languages with regard to statistics. Another interesting, yet unmentioned option is Clojure/Incanter.
rev··on ASUS Launches Monitor with 3840 x 2160 IGZO Display
Correct. Many Thinkpads had 1050 and 1200 until 2007 or so. It went downhill from there.
