What do you do differently?
EUIPO "[Iceland Supermarket] cannot reasonably trademark the name of a country that has been around since the 9th century".
In 2021 Cloudflare was charging me $5 a month with no way to turn it off and no help from the support desk.
It took an, unanswered, email to the CEO for it to go away.
Props to them for listening to the community but question whether they should be the gold standard given it is still a compromise position.
We talked to this many providers because it’s a huge pain point for us and the thing we hacked together was inadequate for tracking usage.
We ended up talking to about 5 different usage based billing API providers and basically no one is interested in servicing the sub $1000 per month market which is where we will realistically be for the next year as we grow.
Additionally lago and other providers advertise "no revenue cut" and then always quote pricing as a percentage of revenue (which is technical not a revenue cut except your fee scales pretty linarly with revenue).
I find it super handy to be able to access the contact QR code without fiddling with lock screens and finding the app.
One of the things FB is removing is “ Calls for protests — even peaceful ones — if they violate the curfew in DC”. Not many years ago we as lauded the ability of social media to galvanise protest against tyrannical regimes (eg the Arab Springs). Currently FB is removing calls to protests against decisions we agree with but what happens when we need to protest again things that we do not agree with? Does FB become the arbiter of what we are allowed to protest and what not?
In the story here the celebrity net worth data had to be created and this was worth doing due to the ad revenue. Making the existing data available to consumer is a benefit but the negative is the lack of new content. So now consumer have easier access to old, inaccurate data.
"There was large scale outrage on twitter about decision X..." followed by an embed of one of three tweets.
It would be very interesting to chart the rise of twitter citations as compared to other sources.
"They are also unable to raise concerns publicly about the expansion, having signed comprehensive agreements with BHP as part of a native title settlement. BHP agreed to financial and other benefits for the Banjima people, while the Banjima made commitments to support the South Flank project."
From the sounds of it the two parties have agreed to the situation and now one party is attempting to escape its part of the agreement through the use public opinion.
Also does refocusing your eyes actually make you look engaged? Sometimes people I talk to appear to be doing that and it comes off a bit shady.
This to me explains the massive success and quick rise of things like redis, mongodb etc. Sure the defaults are insecure but they work and they work immediately.
