America is not the USA. There' North America, Central America, South America.
This "america.gov" makes me feel weird.
Maybe we should have "america.ca" here as well.
I bought one of those some time ago.
Might interest the HN crowd...
"The team — brought together, in part, by disruptions and despair over the Trump administration’s freezes to federal science funding — then made an exciting discovery."
Apparently this is the new way of life for Scientists under the Trump regime.
Sad.
Particularly when the task here is "just" to measure some rod positions in a constrained 3D space ...
Cannot refrain myself from asking why ...
Yeah. A one-shot investment of 10k$ per prisoner to avoid more manslaughter cases is peanuts, really.

The police woman is amazingly patient.
Be afraid...
I do not want cheaper, I want quality at a reasonable price. Sometimes I even accept an unreasonable price for the quality (think Apple stuff). I will never buy crap at cheapest bargain prices.
Cheap clothes barely survive a couple of washes, good quality clothes survive much, much longer. Yes, they are more expensive short term, quite a bit less expensive long term.
Also, not once, ever, was my buying decision influenced by an ad. What influences my decisions is the problems, the defects i will have, or not, with what I chose to buy. Usually, the longer time it works the more expensive it is.
I wonder what would happen if one of their customers asked for a 62443-4-2 certificate of compliance?

Hum... Ah! Not an american Boeing but a french Airbus. Of course.
The article mentions this story should make everyone a little less afraid of flying.
Sure, as long as its not on a Boeing plane.
I guess it would explain those small insignificant issues, however:

Augmented reality glasses, coupled with an AI that can interpret vision would seem to be useful here then.
It takes also many years of study before they will let you touch any living person with your scalpel, and then many years of apprenticeship with actual surgeons when you do touch people with your tools.
I can imagine maintaining a big jumbo jet also requires some specialized practical knowledge you cannot acquire just by reading books and looking at nice little videos.
The problem is not to explain things when everything works perfectly. The problem is getting the ability to diagnose the root causes of defects using all your senses and your intuition. That is not taught in books.
And yet, in the USA you have gerrymandering and apparently _wanted_ Trump.
Twice.
Something has to be very wrong somewhere.
Administration corrupted up to it's very core? Check.
Nihilism of anyone not part of the proper color, gender, whatever agenda? Check.
Unlawful surveillance? Check.
Sending totally innocent citizens to prison with many of them dying mysteriously? Check.
Killing innocent people in the streets simply because they dare protest peacefully? Check.
Welcome to North Korea!
Oups. Confused.
Welcome to the GREAT US of A! Where True Capitalism is practiced.
BTW I know nothing about 3D printers, but the Bambulab was recommended to me by a German friend who lives in Germany and is all about open-source ... He had printers since a long time and knows the ecosystem very well.
He told me the BambuLab printer was better for me because less tinkering, and much cheaper, at similar quality... which is what i was looking for.
We both are embedded systems engineers who work with Linux daily, so I trusted him. The results I get from the printer do not disappoint.
However I totally get the Prusa vibe. Just not for my specific use case.
To each his own indeed !
Designed and made in China.
Right from the unpacking to first print the experience was top Apple-style quality.
Indeed I was agreeably surprised.
You might want to remove your pink USA glasses and look around.
Spotify good enough for you?
However i try to avoid ultra-transformed products like cheez-whiz and philadelphia. Those are not even allowed to be called "cheese" here, they must have some qualifier in front or after the word.
We have cows too, and farmers.
Not that much different from running Red Star OS from North Korea, actually.
A monitor displays items that can stay fixed in place a long time, hours or even days.
Not the same at all.
