rcshubhadeep··on Copy Error in Apple's Developer Program Signup Screen
I was signing up for the Developer Program of Apple and saw this spelling mistake at the last screen
rcshubhadeep··on U.S. abandons hunt for signal of cosmic inflation
Papa did not like this. This toy doesn't make noise (or noise enough)!
rcshubhadeep··on Visual Basic 6 IDE recreated in C#
I love this. Have so many memories with vb. When I was going through my graduation back in 2003/4 I took some classes on developing application using vb6. Some of the most fun things I had ever done.
rcshubhadeep··on Why is it so hard to find a job now? Enter Ghost Jobs
Ghost or not, I have applied for many jobs in the last few months and when I get a reply (I am not counting canned Thanks for applying but we decided to move with another candidate reply) it is almost always very early stage companies. I wonder if bigger companies actually look into CVs? I understand there are automated systems but I did not get replies several times even when the JD / Skills matched super closely with my CV.

Sent you an email. I am a father of two young kids. I totally understand the pain you are addressing. Hope to talk soon

rcshubhadeep··on Ask HN: Dev with 19y experience. I am having hard time to find a job
Yes that "Junior" was supposed to replace me!
rcshubhadeep··on Ask HN: Dev with 19y experience. I am having hard time to find a job
I understand that remote is a problem. But I am settled in India and I do not have much options at the moment. Unless I decide to leave my family and go somewhere else for the job. That is something that is eating me...
rcshubhadeep··on Ask HN: Dev with 19y experience. I am having hard time to find a job
Thanks a lot for the reply!
rcshubhadeep··on Stack Overflow and OpenAI are partnering
How come is it a US only problem? Well, the way the problem is stated is US only, but everyone will need a new job to bring bread on their plate or pay other bills? Whether they live in the US or not. Is it not true?
rcshubhadeep··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (May 2024)
I believe I will be a good fit for the Data Scientist role but I am not sure what you mean by pinging ines@. Where should I do that?

In any case ines@ if you are reading this please can you tell me the next steps?

rcshubhadeep··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (May 2024)
Very excited. Just applied.
rcshubhadeep··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2024)
Can I apply if I am based in India and never used Crystal? I believe I will be valuable in the Core ML Team. Looks interesting!
rcshubhadeep··on Ask HN: What are some captivating fair play mystery books that you've read
Absolutely love his Honjin Murders. And I may as well go ahead and read others also.

Thanks to everyone for suggesting all the interesting things here.

Cheers!

rcshubhadeep··on Over the past 21 months I’ve written a code editor from the ground up
Congrats for building something new. I too, am trying to build a note taking app on top of Tauri. I am still extremely early but stories like this keeps me going. Keep up the good work!
rcshubhadeep··on The end of founder worship, and a reset of toxic startup values
I did not read the entire article but the first couple of paragraphs are a good take on what, I think, is called "Start-up porn". I am tired of listening how good Jobs is and only some mentioning what Wozniak did for Apple (Personal computing in general). Engineers deserve equal respect as so-called "Founders". At least I believe so. Please let us be worthy of recognizing the hard work of people.
rcshubhadeep··on Show HN: UpTrain – Open-source ML observability and refinement tool
I like your tool. Starred it. I wish you could show more examples. I am going to follow your tool and if I see interesting examples I can use it in my work. But please consider more examples. Such as Sentiment Analysis, NER, POS tagging etc.

Also do you support Huggingface models? If so, how?

rcshubhadeep··on Evidence that Adani Group has engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud
I am afraid, now modi will ask to ban HN! He won't stand this insult on his biggest friend and greatest money source. Like the govt is trying to ban the BBC documentary..
rcshubhadeep··on Plastic to Oil – Produces 80% Oil
It is written in one of the pages - "As you look into the data you can understand our machine can produce high grade oil mixture of gasoline, kerosene, diesel oil and little heavy oil. The oil can be used as recycled fuel for electric power generator without refining"

I am no expert, and so I have the question actually. How do we use that oil in reality?

rcshubhadeep··on Learning to summarize with human feedback (2020)
This is also related - https://arxiv.org/pdf/1909.01214.pdf (Mentioned in the paper of OP)
rcshubhadeep··on Tell HN: Copying and pasting from ChatGPT unsolicited sucks
I am also not sure I understand what you are trying to say here...

Sure thing ChatGPT (Or any such model) of course has a ton of downsides, but your point nonetheless is not clear to me. Can you please explain a bit more?

rcshubhadeep··on Pakistan's lost city of 40k people
Mr. Danino had written a wonderful book on this subject. Called "The Lost River". I suggest it as much as I can. I got interested in Indus Valley by reading this.
rcshubhadeep··on Ever-expanding animation of the life of the 796th floor of a space station
This was fun. Thanks for this
rcshubhadeep··on Godard Was Cinema
I am a big fan of his works. I was sad to know that he had passed away. But as the author of this essay said, up until the last moment he had done things "his way" and it is this dare, this strange ways of being, and pointing out things that I would not have seen / thought otherwise, made me fall in love with his movies in the first place. Also, I truly find he kind of manages to imbibe a certain sense of "humor" in most of his works. I like that a lot.
rcshubhadeep··on Notes: Fast note-taking app, open-source, without Electron, built in Qt C++
Regular user of this. Just wanted to tell you a big thanks and kudos for making this. One thing, I recently tried to update it using the in built updater but it told me that it could not find anything to open appimage file in my system...
rcshubhadeep··on Pre built (apt install) Bochs has a major bug in Ubuntu 22.04
I started out to do some OS development and stumbled upon this bug. I have fought it for nearly three days and finally go bochs working via building it from scratch in my ubuntu. Other people also confirmed my suspicion.
rcshubhadeep··on AutoRegex
Did a hobby project a while ago, just the reverse. Wrote a blog post - https://medium.com/codist-ai/generating-natural-language-des... (colab - https://colab.research.google.com/drive/1QibOifIJQB2tfLyy_mm...)

Also gave a pycon talk - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zugbqg9HFHQ

It was fun, achieved good result but did not need a monster like GPT3!

rcshubhadeep··on Launch HN: Hello (YC S22) – A search engine for developers
A small observation: I searched "How to implement trie" it showed me some code examples of specific things that can be done with Trie (such as search) but all of them were in Python language. Is that because your training set? Also when I slightly change the question "How to implement btree" I do not get really any code result. Simple observations. Maybe helpful for you.

Congrats on the Launch!
