have you read any of the generated stories? if you can honestly tell me this is not complete drivel (even worse, wildly generic and poorly written) then i will consider giving real feedback but i would find that hard to believe.
Would that be odd? AI companies are still staffed by people, and large announcements like acquihires certainly feel like they could use a slightly more human touch if they truly mean a lot to the company.
I can only assume there is some database structuring issue where things would potentially be broken if emails aren't update correctly, but I'm just guessing.
i would argue our built in heuristics for probability are pretty bad, which is why the monty hall problem is so hard for most people to grasp (even though it is a relatively straight forward application of probability). probabilistic thinking comes much less naturally to the human mind than deterministic thinking.
I was thinking the same thing, and I believe there are trade offs you make in both methods. If you count and group, you just have to pick your own hexcode buckets. So orange and gold are their top two colors in the example, and on our end we would jsut have to decide what range of hex values correlates to orange and what range correlates to gold and what range applies to everything. With deep learning these ranges are effectively learned, so it's more computational and feels like overkill but I can see the benefits.
If I were at work I would probably just choose my buckets and group by the hex counts though, a lot less computation in that and you can get consistent results. If I were having fun I would fit a deep net.
Looks great! Does it support different sized models, i.e. can I run llama 70B and 7B, and is there a way to specify which model to chat with? Are there plans to allow users to ingest their own models through this UI?
McCarthy was one of my bigger introductions to what I could call a more "adult" form of literature. He was one of my favorite novelists when I was in my late teens and early 20's, and I believe him to be a master of setting a tone in a novel. Truly will never forget the first time I read Blood Meridian.
This is way more in depth of an evaluator than I've ever written, but it's a fun project. I'm a largely self taught dev and build an evaluator was an illuminating project for me. Mine was just a math parser but this is a cool project!
I thought Tooth and Tail fit this bill pretty well, kind of like a StarCraft lite. Games are meant to be quick, about 5-12 minutes. Good strategy RTS that isn't hard to get into and I had a lot of fun with it.
I have a friend who is a member of the ultra rich, and this is exactly how his family uses their portfolio. They currently can borrow with .03% interest through their brokerage.
I think it's generally easy to point the finger at others while ignoring our own short comings. I feel the same way about the USA pointing the finger at other countries human rights violations while simultaneously struggling to come to terms with our own treatment of minorities and indigenous people in the past.
Maybe it's a mix of hypocrisy and political gain. I just hope there comes a time where we can all do better.
This has also become my biggest issue with Typescript, and a lot of the people I have talked to about it agree this is the biggest pain point. I am not sure what a better system for this would be, but I do hope the Typescript team takes a hard look at this because I could see it being Typescript's Achilles heel.
Neat! If I can make one suggestion: I know this is usually not at all what people should with websites, but consider hijacking basic browser hotkeys to augment the shell. Tab for auto complete instead of select next element would be a good start, and I think in this type of situation its acceptable to hijack.
There are at least a couple out there. Snapchat turned down a $3B offer from Facebook to stay independent, and I believe Twitter have turned down similar offers through the years.
I mean, Ultima Online was out there at the time and had a great playerbase. It's not hard to imagine that most of Origin's focus had shifted toward the MMO platform they helped invent.
This is exactly the point I've been making to my friends who think like the commenter you replied to. "Forcing people to have some ability to load programs" is exactly why so many people use Apple products; because it's extremely intuitive for non-technology inclined people to use.
I highly doubt that devs are the ones who make the decision to put everything behind the walled garden of an entirely separate app store. Although I would agree that devs do shoulder some of the blame for relying on electron and other such technologies for building these things.
To be fair, the author of the article and the person who posted this are the same person. A medium article isn't too far away from a chan posting. Anyone can hop on and write whatever they want, and then post it here.
Not gonna lie, there's a lot to not like about this article.
I went in pretty skeptical, as I do on all articles touching on this subject matter, but when I saw that the authors link to "world leaders and other influentials" stating they wanted to change society was a quote from a British model, I lost all hope.
Please use better sources for fear mongering next time.
I considered this as well, although from my view I think it just shows how uncreative a lot of people in tech are. this type of messaging clearly works, or we wouldn't see it constantly.
oh please, so now every time someone claims they want to "change lives" we must heap praise on them just in case someone at some point will actually want to do it?
does software change peoples lives? absolutely. should we be encouraging people to participate and build software that can legitimately achieve this? absolutely. is there a pervasiveness in tech to constantly frame, no matter what technology is being worked on, in the light of "changing lives"? in my opinion, yes. I see it constantly in the tech industry, and at this point it is essentially a marketing gimmick. im saying I find it irritating that the tech industry is unable to market themselves and their technologies without this blanket statement.
