AI has kind of ruined internet for me.

I no longer feel joy in reading things as almost most of the writing seem same and pale to me as if everyone is putting thoughts in the same way.

Having your own way of writing always felt personal in which you expressed your feelings most of the time.

The most sad part for me is I no longer am able to understand someone's true feelings (which anyway was hard to express in writing as articulation is hard).

We see it being used from our favourite sports person in their retirement post or from someone who has lost their loved ones or someone who just got their first job and it's just sad that we no longer can have that old pre AI days back again.

I’m working on something in a similar direction and would appreciate feedback from people who’ve built or operated this kind of thing at scale.

The idea is to hook into Bitbucket PR webhooks so that whenever a PR is raised on any repo, Jenkins spins up an isolated job that acts as an automated code reviewer. That job would pull the base branch and the feature branch, compute the diff, and use that as input for an AI-based review step. The prompt would ask the reviewer to behave like a senior engineer or architect, follow common industry review standards, and return structured feedback - explicitly separating must-have issues from nice-to-have improvements.

The output would be generated as markdown and posted back to the PR, either as a comment or some attached artifact, so it’s visible alongside human review. The intent isn’t to replace human reviewers, but to catch obvious issues early and reduce review load.

What I’m unsure about is whether diff-only context is actually sufficient for meaningful reviews, or if this becomes misleading without deeper repo and architectural awareness. I’m also concerned about failure modes - for example, noisy or overconfident comments, review fatigue, or teams starting to trust automated feedback more than they should.

If you’ve tried something like this with Bitbucket/Jenkins, or think this is fundamentally a bad idea, I’d really like to hear why. I’m especially interested in practical lessons.

ravirajx7··on Java is still worth learning
I’ve been working as a backend developer for close to six years now, but reading this brought me right back to college.

Like many others, I started with C. It taught me the basics - memory, pointers, writing data structures from scratch - but most of the time it felt like I was just trying not to break things. Solving problems became more about handling the language than understanding the logic.

Then I came across Java, and something just clicked. It felt structured, readable, and intentional. Almost like reading good English. For the first time, I could focus on the actual problem instead of building the tools to solve it. Collections, built-in libraries, and a reliable runtime made coding feel productive, not just painful.

Even now, years later, Java still feels like home. It’s not perfect, but it gave me the space to learn, grow, and build things that last. I really appreciated this article - it captures that quiet strength Java has, and the care so many people have put into making it better over time. It reminded me why I still enjoy writing Java after all these years.

ravirajx7··on India's repair culture gives new life to dead laptops
This reminded me of something that happened to a friend of mine not long ago. He’d just been laid off from a pretty good Salesforce Admin job and was already in a tight spot financially when his laptop’s motherboard fried after a voltage spike.

Local shops were quoting ₹25,000–₹30,000 (roughly $300–$360), which he just couldn’t afford. Then a friend told him about Nehru Place. He sent the laptop there through someone he knew, and the repair only cost him around ₹5,000–₹10,000 ($60–$120). Way more reasonable.

He was glad to get it fixed without spending a lot but it does make you wonder how reliable those reused parts are. Like, how long is it gonna hold up before something else goes wrong?

ravirajx7··on How actors remember their lines
Wow! Brilliant Read. I love how our mind loves to read and visualize scripts and it's like in between infinite thoughts going within. The time we repeat we think in some different way thinking "Oh yeah! Now I understand this more".

Curious to know from the people who have read a lots and lots of text or books or watched movies.

ravirajx7··on Ask HN: What framework should I learn?
If you are coming from Java Background with some basic understanding of JavaScript/Typescript you should try using Spring framework with React. Try reading blogs from Baeldung.com[1] which provides lots of different articles on how you can use spring for your particular use case.

ravirajx7··on The Reason Java Is Still Popular
The main reason behind Java's success has always been the community and it's ecosystem. Once you learn basics you literally can code very good things with ease using a huge number of examples/solutions present on web.

The user base kind of helps the developers find the fixes way too easily compared to any other language.

I doubt it is ever going to lose it's popularity as Java is very good to accept good changes(although slowly). The best thing about java is it provides code stability and backward compatibility and this is the reason it will thrive even more.

ravirajx7··on Typical implementations of payment processing and related security issues
I think this is absolutely correct time to ask something to the people who have worked on this kinda integration. Currently we have a PSP which gives a webhook on successful payment. The challenge here is once I receive webhook (which is a stateless POST request to one of our server) we want to attach it to a browser with an open websocket connection. I have to make a redirect now what do you think is an ideal way to make it? Currently I am posting it directly to the notify page which is waiting for success/failure response. But the problem here is I don't have any mechanism through which I could make a post request directly with the browser context as well as redirect without explicit post(which ofcourse displays payload - think success/fail response). Can you provide a better way for handling the redirect here with form post?

To make things more clear we have our client which wants to display a QR hosted on a different service where it comes via http redirect on requesting one of the server API - then this service gets the webhook & it has to redirect back to the client again with the payment status/webhook response.

ravirajx7··on Postgres full-text search: A search engine in a database (2021)
I am feeling real bad now as I used the like query as OP did (although in MySQL) for implementing a custom search over two fields ( Name & Description ) in one of my personal projects. I thought it worked pretty well though and I was so happy about it.
ravirajx7··on Ask HN: How do you scale WebSocket?
Hi, I agree with each of your points you mentioned. Still it's kind of curiosity within me which is making me think to achieve this goal as we have ample time and this indeed is a business need.

It would be very nice of you if you can share few other solution other than using Ably's API :(

ravirajx7··on Ask HN: How do you scale WebSocket?
Hi, We're not using Nginx. We are using Docker image & everything is configured using cloudflare (whose details are something which I am not aware of properly).

Though, here the problem with websocket is that they are stateful and whenever a connection is established it is directly getting established with one of the instance from the list of several instances due to loadbalancer. Now, whenever a new Webhook response comes as it's a normal post request and it doesn't have information regarding which instance was used earlier for making the websocket connection, it may send request to one of the instance where the connection was not established and thus our backend is not able to process this request from this particular instance.

ravirajx7··on Ask HN: How do you scale WebSocket?
It's the websocket connection which is not getting established. Webhook response is a simple Post request and it's coming fine. The problem here is sometimes this webhook response comes to that particular instance where the websocket connection was not established with the client.Ideally I would be happy if this response comes to both of the instance through some configuration on loadbalancer.
ravirajx7··on Ask HN: How do you scale WebSocket?
Hi, Thank you for responding. Actually we have one external API which provides this detail as soon as the payment is done. But we wanted something wherein once the payment is done we can directly send back the details directly to the connected client using that incoming webhook response instead of making the client(browser) to call one another API/fetch state present in DB periodically.
ravirajx7··on Ask HN: Please Dark Mode for HN
I know it's not a fix but I usually try to use dark mode for all the website in chrome by using chrome's experimental flag feature { https://www.xda-developers.com/google-chrome-android-dark-mo... }. However, this feature have some side effects like improper rendering but works fine for sites like HN.
ravirajx7··on Auth0 Has been down for almost 4 hours now
Hey! Corrrect me if I'm wrong But It seems using Azure's(or any third party) client credential flow is better (or say easier) option as it can be used for managing multiple microservices.

However, I came across this specific need of implementing both Authorization and resource server on the same application and for that I'm planning to implement Authorization Server using Spring but I came to know that Spring have stopped active oauth project development and so I'm planning to use Keycloak for my application also I'm planning to store client id & client secret in mysql database.

In authorization server I have to generate access token and then send it back to the client and verify when the api call is made with the same token.

If you don't mind do you have any link or specific resources for the development which you did? I would love to see your project as well. Thanks.

ravirajx7··on Ask HN: Can you get a job without LeetCode?
Obviously you can get jobs at many startups without having much algorithmic skills. However, for you to make your case strong you should try building some web applications to prove that you're proficient to learn on your own and build things. Sometimes even the certifications and knowledge in cloud technologies are good enough for you to be hired. You should try getting referrals from people working at the companies and connect with people online.
ravirajx7··on How to join a team and learn a codebase (2020)
For someone who is new in the team I would recommend :

1. Try to see what existing functionalities are there and how exactly the code is being executed line by line by putting debug points on the codebase.

2. Try to change the local codebase and see how the changes are affecting the application.

3. Whenever stuck - try your best to find out the errors and search for the solution for the errors present on the console. If facing more difficulty, better take help from seniors.

4. Think of the simplest approach you can use to develop a piece or make a change without affecting much of the codebase.

5. See other projects which uses same technology but with small codebases having same kind of implementation and try to learn the best practices followed also do visit documentation regularly because sometimes all you need is already explained in the simplest way.

ravirajx7··on India has a hole where its middle class should be
Very good point but i believe the cash in hand doesn't account for all the money you have.

There are many facets for accountability. And I don't think that any middle class person having more cash in hand while exchanging his cash could potentially prove that his money is accountable because there exist some form of money which he has given to some other person or may be has invested in some business.

My point is by totalling out just the amount of cash maybe 5-10k rupees the income cannot be accounted.

ravirajx7··on India has a hole where its middle class should be
> People don't pay taxes because they can get away with it.

This certainly is one of the reason behind hiding income. But majority of the middle class don't even file itr 1 form (for income below 2.5 lakhs per annum ). For filling an itr 1 form, people don't need to pay any tax.

Though people are not paying taxes but the money is being accounted and my point here is that of accountability.

However, if the income was recorded the analysis of stats could have been done more efficiently.

ravirajx7··on India has a hole where its middle class should be
Few points which i would like to add:

1. India does have very large middle class population and most of their income is unaccounted.

2. Majority of middle class Indians who belong to certain religion/caste hide their income so as to get many freebies and reservation benefits.

3. Very few rich individuals pay taxes and file correct income tax return. Government is very much responsible for this as filling a simple itr form consist of many different sections and people avoid getting into official paperwork.

4. Though poor people are given various subsidies on paper but because of lack of education they barely know all the scehmes running around them and politicians eat most of their money.

5. Longer judicial proceedings make it even more tough for the system to catch corrupt individuals and implement good policies.

ravirajx7··on A man who 'discovered' 780 Indian languages
There lies a difference between 'developing' & 'developed' and my point regarding it is with the development pace which is comparatively slow against Brazil or any other developing nation which usually has very few language as an official one. Brazil has only one 'Portuguese' as an official language but India has far too many.
ravirajx7··on A man who 'discovered' 780 Indian languages
Just that it has almost double per capita income(PPP) when compared to India. $1576(76th) vs $7153 (122nd) respectively.
