Data & UX consulting @ https://rathbonelabs.com. Proud dad.
Formerly: Kickbox (acquired), Shoutlet (acquired), Foursquare (alive), Drop.io (acquired)
Founded: 99Inbound (acquired), Beekeeper Data (dead)
Def ran into issues on my second play - there were no trains from Waterloo, nor any boats from Plymouth or Portsmouth.
Shows a lot of promise. Can't wait for it to improve some of the core systems just a little, will be very addictive.
Hit a wall going to Plymouth when I should have gone to Portsmouth, but had no way to check which one had the ferry I needed.
Do you think H1B visa holders looking to move to a Green Card (in coordination with their employer) should be concerned about rejected applications or other issues?
Should folks on H1B visas who have an ongoing green card application via PERM be concerned at all?
Would you advise not traveling until the i-495 is filed?
I make Beekeeper Studio, another open source db tool (although v different), we started charging for a pro version 2 years ago. Would be cool to connect! I can tell you what we did and what did and didn't work - Matthew (at) beekeeperstudio (dot) io
I need remote part/full time folks to help with the following:
============
Marketing / Growth
Write blog posts, email sequences, landing pages, ads, videos, etc. Must be comfortable with Markdown and HTML/CSS. Goal: Help increase signups & conversions, reduce churn.
============
Support & QA
Test the application, respond to customer requests, help triage GitHub. Write automated tests. Opportunities to do other stuff like coding / marketing if interested. Goal: Help our releases be rock-solid.
============
Location preference: Global! If you're in Latin America I can pay well and that's perfect for timezone overlap.

Here's why I price like I do:
I can't keep the lights on with one time payments, period. I just don't make enough money.
However as a consumer I prefer them.
My compromise is a subscription that provides a permanent benefit after 1 year. Access to any version of the app released in your subscription period. Forever.
I think it's really fair, and when I made the change I saw an immediate uptick in sales.
Renewal is still opt out though. Defaults matter.
I make beekeeper Studio and struggle with bug reports being very vague
First two code reviews show no feedback.
Still small, independent, and profitable here at Beekeeper Studio. :-)

When I started building Beekeeper there were 0 open source DB apps with good UX, especially on Linux. So that's why it exists.
I now have a paid version to support development as it has grown super quickly over the last 3 years.
I think that's a pretty fair price, but always happy to get more pricing feedback.
It's a similar value proposition as VSCode/Sublime Text vs IntelliJ. If you are in a database all day and need a big beefy IDE, Beekeeper Studio isn't for you.
I built Beekeeper Studio because I wanted an easy to use and intuitive GUI. I'm not a DBA, so using DBeaver or DataGrip required me to basically re-learn the whole app every time I used it, which I didn't have the patience for.
Hope that helps add some context :-)
I have full feature parity across all OSes, which I'm pretty proud of as a one-man team (although I do have some AMAZING part time help)
