Years later, Netflix is still having issues. Maybe it's not as easy as you claim.

> 1. Now you just have a blank screen. Sure some people might like that but others will think there's an issue with the stream.

NASCAR has a separate feed for international broadcasts without their ads. During the ad break they'll just show an overhead camera or maybe an in car camera.

I feel like it's fine for social chat but for technical chat I feel similar to the article.

The kernel has a cache used for block devices.

If you want to be more targeted:

    blockdev --flushbufs /dev/sda

I'm pleasantly surprised at how often someone will use jitsi when the alternative is not communicating with me in such a fashion.

Jitsi is an excellent free and open source alternative.

I don't understand why people are still using Google search generally. It's so bad nowadays.

I'll consider it when zfs in in tree.

Governments lie all the time. This is not new.

Isn't that what the safe drinking water act is for?

They're still used today for cellular modems

> When I was young, they predicted orders and had hot food waiting, you would get your meal as you ordered.

I worked at McDonald's at that time. We would make a tray of 12 cheeseburgers and microwave them then leave them in the warmer until they're sold or got disgusting enough for customers to complain.

When I worked at McDonald's we had impossible target times and the only way to meet them was to hit the serve button right away and go off memory.

There's a number of Linux developers living in the USA. I wouldn't be surprised if any live in the Chicago area.

The politicians and bureaucrats aren't generally the ones making the web sites.

Lately without an ad blocker YouTube will give me an ad every minute. Basically unusable.

> Cellular phones were invented in the UK and Finland. The US didn't even have them until the first couple of generations were obsolete here.

That was before Martin Cooper's cell phone in 1973?

I'm in the USA and I've never had to do more than inform my employer that I'm not coming in because I'm sick. I guess it varies by employer.

I didn't know there were two halves or how long they are. I'm over 40 and the first actual soccer match I've seen was in the latest world cup.

I feel like neither system is inherently better outside of familiarity and I don't care which is used I'm just tired of having to own two sets of tools.

> You can lie to local cops all you want.

The legality of that varies.

MUDs are text based. Some of the clients can have graphical features but the basic way to interface with the MUD itself is with text.
