rapsey··on 10-year Treasury yield climbs above 5.3% to a level not seen in 24 years
Yes the AI investment bond market is so large it is literally competing with the government.
rapsey··on US sanctions force The Netherlands off Microsoft and toward alternative NixOS
Farage was debanked. So was Trump and Melania, AfD politicians, Le Penn in france.
rapsey··on US sanctions force The Netherlands off Microsoft and toward alternative NixOS
Outside the US, NATO countries have very little power projection capabilities. A bit of france, a bit of UK and then nothing.
rapsey··on US sanctions force The Netherlands off Microsoft and toward alternative NixOS
The EU is entirely subjugated to the US. No energy independence, militaries falling apart and out of date, no tech development or investment.

ICC judges getting the right wing activist treatment, except the activists get it from their own government.
rapsey··on California is chasing wealth that has feet
> And while the wealthy always threaten to leave when faced with higher taxes, the fact is that they never seem to actually do so.

Around 2T worth of wealthy individuals left california when the wealth tax propositon was started.

No california has an NGO homeless industry, which gets paid on the amount of homelessness. They are incentivised on increasing homelessness, thus this is what they do.
rapsey··on Tiny village votes for 'independence' from UK amid asylum seeker row
Nice straw man you have there.
rapsey··on Tiny village votes for 'independence' from UK amid asylum seeker row
And the border communities loved having them there and invited them? Everything I said was factual. The voters of those northern communities love supporting policies as long as they happen someplace else. A thing called luxury beliefs.

They were of course removed from the community swiftly.

The ECHR is actually very loose with their definitions and gives the governments much freedom.

The UK chooses to interpret and enforce them as they do. Other european countries are within ECHR limits and deal with it entirely differently.

The UK elites no longer have the EU to blame for their policies, so they speak about ECHR. On the continent people barely know ECHR exists.

Because the UK wants them. They can stop the boats at any time. They can stop feeding and housing them at any time. They come because the UK government and NGOs provide them with a comfortable life.

Much like the residents of Martha's Vinyard, I am sure all have been very progressive, until it was time to have migrants in their back yards.
rapsey··on All grown-ups were once children, but only few of them remember it
Yes I have read it. Kids are not retarded.
rapsey··on All grown-ups were once children, but only few of them remember it
Kids do think about death. Hiding or avoiding the discussion does nothing. My kids absolutely adored Brothers Lionheart.
rapsey··on All grown-ups were once children, but only few of them remember it
I don't know why you are down voted. Death was so much more present in kids lives back then. Death from diseases and injuries so common. Kids having dead siblings entirely normal.
rapsey··on It's time for Mark Zuckerberg to resign from Meta
I don't think that is an answerable question. It is just an excuse for people justifying a hamfisted intervention into society that actually would do more harm than good.

There is a malaise in the west and Meta is just a symptom. More institutional power is a bad idea when institutions are dysfunctional.

rapsey··on It's time for Mark Zuckerberg to resign from Meta
I think you are projecting your biases.

Musk probably made more dollar millionaires than anyone in history. Facebook advertisers use it because it works and reaches a hell of a lot of people.
rapsey··on Samsung's Processing-in-Memory (PIM)
OLED also has a deep history with a pretty famous opinions that it is impossible and a waste of time and money for companies to invest in the development. So does AI. From inception to product it is normal for decades to pass.

Compute needs change. AI needs are pretty unique in terms of scale and type of compute requirements to anything else so far.

rapsey··on Australia Bans Generative A.I. From Official Music Charts
So completely unnecessary.
rapsey··on Kubernetes on Oxide: How customer needs shaped our integrations
i.e. enthusiasts. The cheapest, most demanding, the loudest and least loyal customers.
rapsey··on Flutter 3.47
Every time we tried it, it resulted in a worse experience than we knew could be done using native stacks. It is like using sand as a foundation for your house. Random version updates break random things. As soon as you need something a bit advanced on the platform, you are stuck with some barely supported library. Easy to start, hard to maintain and hard to ship a solid product.
rapsey··on Melatonin impairs morning cognition in healthy young adults (2023)
Magnesium around every half hour around 100mg starting 2h before bed, the rest when I go to bed.
rapsey··on Melatonin impairs morning cognition in healthy young adults (2023)
B6 40/50mg depending on the pill.

Magnesium 300mg or so.

Glycine I started with 3/5g, now I take like 30g

rapsey··on Melatonin impairs morning cognition in healthy young adults (2023)
The body gets used to melatonin. It is actually a crap sleep supplement. It works worse every time you take it. What you should be doing is give the body the ingredients it needs to make its own melatonin like it is suppose to work.
rapsey··on Melatonin impairs morning cognition in healthy young adults (2023)
Insomniac for 20 years. What was a complete solution for me was: magnesium, b6 p5p (p5p form very important) and the ultimate punch glycine.

Glycine takes some getting used to, as you will have crazy intense dreams at first. But it is a very safe supplement to take even in large doses.

I always had huge insomnia issues after a physically intensive days after workouts. The stack I settled on solved it. A heavy day just needs a bit more magnesium and quite a bit more glycine.

rapsey··on Virginia orders data centers to pay for dedicated new electric infrastructure
Probably pay the power company to put in the required infrastructure upgrades I guess.
rapsey··on Chinese chipmaker shares surge 470%
Most people here seem to have a serious misunderstanding of what a stock price means. It reflects investor expectations. Not current revenue.
rapsey··on German Peasants' War
> Something else is going to happen this time, or really is happening already: people vote with their feet and stop having children.

And then the elite says, well lets import excess population from the third world. An idea unthinkable in the past, but now we are modern and not racist.
