SaaS?

rapfaria··on Ask HN: Best web server/language/framework for embedded?
Not at all constrained. It's already on the market, but maintenance is excrutiating, so that's why we want to rewrite.
rapfaria··on Ask HN: Best web server/language/framework for embedded?
It's close to a beagle bone black running a minimal debian distribution.
rapfaria··on Graying Out
So, anyone knows what happened to Mark Pilgrim after all these years?
rapfaria··on How Fair Is My D20? (2015)
Your opponent told you to use the die he brought?

He was probably on to something.

rapfaria··on Technical Recruiting Needs to Focus on Selling the Position
If every recruiter has responded "thanks for responding and thanks for being up front.", it just means a wasted opportunity. Some of them could probably give you the $Y, but might think that the only thing you consider is money - and you know how HR is.

I know the game sucks either way, but I'd rephrase your answer a little and use it as a second e-mail, not first.

rapfaria··on The Book of Secret Knowledge – A collection of lists, blogs, hacks
It creates enough mystery for someone to open the github page so they can read "intended for everyone"?
rapfaria··on Ask HN: What books changed the way you think about almost everything?
I do wonder what tasteless books benefit from this magic, but the other way around.
rapfaria··on Lego collecting delivers huge and uncorrelated market returns
Agreed, but a lot of collecting involves talking the monetary value of the collection. Some people will never sell it, but they will tell you - with some sort of pride, even - the thousands of dollars it is worth.
rapfaria··on Ask HN: What was your best passive income in 2018?
You think they pirated your course on March?
rapfaria··on I've compiled the best SaaS Landing pages and broke down all their secrets
Don't open any Flask thread.
rapfaria··on A Gentle Visual Intro to Data Analysis in Python Using Pandas
Genuine question, did you run the original before publishing it on the website?
rapfaria··on Ways people trying to do good accidentally do harm instead and how to avoid them
That is not a good favicon, I was skimming for a list of '8 ways people trying to do good'.
rapfaria··on Ask HN: What's was the hardest part about starting to code?
Being a computer power user in order to be able to effectively set environments.
rapfaria··on Physics Nobel won by laser wizardry – laureates include first woman in 55 years
Being brilliant and being a brilliant teacher are indeed distinct things.
rapfaria··on LEGO built a life-size, drivable Bugatti from over a million Technic pieces
I assume that it's not only top speed, but high speed as well. Must be tough to control something at 200mph, but not as much at 70mph
rapfaria··on Salmon, a Python Mail Server
We do live in the "shameless plug" era.
rapfaria··on Youtube-dl: Command-line program to download videos
You can search through pull requests to see a few examples, but I wouldn't say it's that simple. Login in and authentication can be very different for each website.
rapfaria··on My home lab setup for highly-available Internet
Is this an overkill setup for Twitch/Youtube streamers?

rapfaria··on Gentoo's GitHub Organization Was Hacked
I wonder if every org should demand the use of a password manager by its contributors.
rapfaria··on Ask HN: What is the first thing you implement at a new company?
> at least if you know what you're doing

Isn't this exactly the problem? I know "what I'm doing", but don't have the added knowledge of several engineeers through several years, and rewrite it's not necessarily a 1:1 transcription to a new language or structure.

If something is bothering the team daily, than yes, a rewrite might be needed, which is different, and hardly something I would exclusively by myself.

rapfaria··on John Resig: Introducing the GraphQL Guide
And if he takes as much time as he took with "Secrets of the JavaScript Ninja", we may never even see DLC
rapfaria··on John Resig: Introducing the GraphQL Guide
Why is rate limiting only part of the $289 package?

Edit: And wasn't it cheaper earlier? I was pretty sure it was $29 for the basic version, maybe that rounding up market trick got me.

rapfaria··on Why Open Source Software Is Moving to GitLab After Microsoft-GitHub Deal
Any big projects that moved already? Or those thousands of repositories are dot files?
rapfaria··on GitHub Alternatives
Before reading I was sure gitea would be mentioned right after gitlab.
rapfaria··on Read first pages of novels, and reveal the author and title if you're hooked
Why though? Is there something relating overall quality to first line engagement?

"The primroses were over" does nothing for me, but Watership Down is great!

rapfaria··on Ask HN: What interesting thought did you read on HN but couldn't find later?
Just a reminder to always upvote/favorite what you consider relevant, and you can find it later on your profile, in case you don't use an app like Pocket to consolidate everything.
rapfaria··on Google Home Beats Amazon Echo in Q1 2018 Smart Speaker Shipments
What is 4. about? Never heard about it.

And out of curiosity I asked: Alexa, can you laugh?

"Sure, I can laugh. Ti-hi".
